TL;DR: Delicious BBQ with generous portions, great flavor, and friendly service Zeke’s might be the best BBQ in San Antonio. Well worth the visit. For starters, I ordered the 2-meat plate with my selections being the brisket and smoked turkey (the two sides as shown were potato salad and mac & cheese). My wife ordered the one plate meal with her selections being the sausage and sides of pinto beans and green beans. The good: -Brisket was moist but not sopping wet. -Meat was not overseasoned -House sauce was sweet and tangy but not overbearing. -Price to portion ratio was favorable. -Sides were just as delicious as the meat. Improvements: -Minor cosmetic upgrades would be nice -Main ice machine wasn't working, but workers had spare ice in a fridge. -Small interior dining area could provide trouble finding seating indoors during busy periods. Overall: After a very disappointing stop at another BBQ place in downtown San Antonio (one that was overpriced and overhyped). We were relieved to find Zeke's BBQ Smokehouse. There friendly staff and delicious food made for a great stop. We don't think it would be very hard to crown this establishment as the Best BBQ in San Antonio. If you're in the area it should be one of your first stops. If you're an out of state traveler like we were, its worth going out of your way for. Our family of 3 polished our plates and managed to snag one of their jello desserts (which we also polished off). We will definitely be back for more!

Got a 3 meat plate and the sampler. If there is anything about this place I can say is seasoning. Chicken as literally pulled from the pack and stuck in the smoker. No seasoning whatsoever. Not brined or salted or anything. Turkey had some pepper, and maybe the ribs had some bbq sauce put on them at most when smoked. Everything lacked in seasoning/salt. people just don’t think to season well. All the sides also lacked any salt. Cream corn was passable. Green beans, Mac, beans, all saltless. Rice was ok. Just tasted like chicken stock. Bbq sauce is pretty standard but doesn’t stand out. Not a knock, just a comment. Potato salad is store bought from Walmart/heb so if you’re ok with that then it is what it is. We also found a long piece of plastic in our creamed corn which is never a good thing to find in their food. Now the food was cooked fine. Nice and Smokey, good rings on brisket and the other meats so they have that. But get some salt in there. That smoke doesn’t do anything if it just like nothing. Sausage though was pretty damn good. Keep that up. I know it sounds harsh but I want this place to have better food since it’s close to home. It just boggles my mind that people just think smoking the food is all you need to make it taste good. Seasoning is your friend people, and only putting pepper is not seasoning.

Visited based on the high reviews. Visited at 6:45pm on Friday evening, dining room was dead but clean. Cashier was friendly and welcoming. Ordered at counter then waited for the food which came quickly. Brisket had a nice heavy pepper bark and smoke ring but was very dry and tuff textured with a tuff pull and served lukewarm. Sausage was good but also dried out. The beef ribs which I was recommended to try were nice and thick with a nice bark and smoke but unfortunately also very dry and barley lukewarm. I believe it may have been a slow day which the meats had been heating to long causing the meats to dry out. I was shocked considering the again high reviews. Cream corn was tasty, the green beans were my favorite full of flavor with bacon. Sweet tea was good and the service was very friendly. Overall if you live within close proximity of this restaurant I do recommend them for their value and price perhaps a busy weekend visit would be a much better quality on a busy day to experience what the high reviews say. Definitely support this local business which is most important more than ever.
