Dear owner. I love your restaurant. The decor, the feeling of "another era", and of course the food. I am 68 years old and 4th generation of restaurant management in my family. Your food was A-1! However, why on Earth did you have just one girl to wait on all customers and the deli and the little store. This was on a Thursday around Noon. She was a trooper, but I felt terribly sorry for her. I read all your reviews and was sorry to find another that had a similar experience. The waitress was so hard pressed it was very hard for her to be nice to her customers...Too bad, as I was "shopping" for new places to go and was ready to make this a weekly thing for me. I am not sure now. I was so happy with the food and the place in general and the girls attempt to hold it together, I was going to give her a $10 tip extra over and above the bill and regular tip...She was so hard pressed in the end to be nice that it came up too short and I did not feel generous and did not give her my extra appreciation...Please take care of this wonderful place. I want to share it with...
Read moreThis hidden away little gem of a restaurant provides more than good food and service. Gazzalo's Sausage Co. gives an experience comparable to that of real German restaurants. Having personally traveled and toured through Germany, taking in all that the country had to offer, including their wonderful restaurants, I can say with first-hand experience that Gazzolo's is authentic German food. Our hostess and server for the day was Sheryl. She went above and beyond to give my girlfriend and me the best food experience we've ever had in San Bernadino. Definitely try the mushroom gravy schnitzel and don't hesitate to order the 2 sausages plate, allowing you to choose 2 different types from their list, ranging from mild to hot. The German potato salad is a must try as it is authentic as it gets and far surpasses our own American version. The German beers available are definitely worth enjoying while you have your meal. We definitely recommend this amazing restaurant, whether you're in the area or up for a drive, it's definitely...
Read moreI drove for an hour as website said restaurant and deli were open. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I will like to try again, as their sausages seem excellent. However, I will call first to find out if they're open. Hope they've survived Covid...
I'm writing this one month later, after reading the owners' sensible response to my original post. As I was doing that, when I read the reason why they were closed, I had to agree with them: death in the family, sorry, they absolutely had to close. Same with their suggestion that I call ahead: should have done that.
So, my apologies for reacting too quickly and too harshly. There's more important things in life than being frustrated for a long drive and not being able to sink your teeth in a bratwurst, no matter how amazing.
Now, I haven't been able to go back yet, but I will definitely do so: the place seems amazing. And the owners deserve that I apologize to them face to face. And believe me: it's not the free desert that did it... But I'll sure...
