I was in the area on Thursday dropping off two pairs of jeans for alteration at Brigette Cleaners at 241 El Camino Real. It was raining lightly and not busy. There were two young met seated in a booth as I walked in - my first time ordering from this establishment. Since I don't eat a lot of meat I decided to go with the Mushroom Quesadilla. I had worked all day in San Francisco, commuted via BART & wanted to get home. I opted to get this only, no drink. Cost with tax was over $14. I was surprised not to receive any chips with my order. As I was waited for my order a couple came in. The two young men in the booth who I thought were eating in were actually waiting for an order. The man behind the counter took their order to them. As I sat waiting in a booth, I saw the man behind the counter place another order on top of a barrel located outside behind the counter, obviously a to go order. Then my order was ready. He called out Mushroom Quesadilla but did not take my order out to me. Was it because I was the only woman. Yes, I think so. From the get go I found the man to have a condescending attitude toward me and quite rude. Of note is that I am 64. I have also had Mushroom Quesadillas before. This one was sauteed and placed on a thin paper plate covered in tin foil. Had they not placed my order in a plastic bag it would have leaked all over my car. Upon my arrival home when I removed it from the bag it had completely leaked through the paper plate onto my counter. I immediately though of the Dixie Plate commercial. No, I will not be ordering from Taqueria Mi...
Read moreI typically refrain from writing restaurant reviews unless the experience is exceptionally negative or extraordinary, and "Taqueria mi Durango" falls into the extraordinary category. As someone who travels extensively and particularly enjoys dining at Mexican restaurants due to my Mexican heritage, I often find the food to be satisfactory but not quite meeting my expectations. However, the cuisine at Taqueria mi Durango has undoubtedly surpassed those expectations and stands out as one of the most authentic Mexican food experiences I have encountered in the United States.
The portions at this establishment are generous, and the flavors and textures are truly outstanding. Furthermore, the service is excellent, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always willing to assist. It is evident that they possess a deep understanding of their craft. During our visit to San Francisco, we made the decision to dine at Taqueria mi Durango before returning to Utah, and it turned out to be the best decision we made throughout the entire trip.
One noteworthy dish we tried was the molcajete, but I must emphasize that every item on their menu appears delicious. If you're in search of a fantastic restaurant with exceptional food, look no further. Taqueria mi Durango is the...
Read moreMy first time here. The menu looks awesome- extensive and authentic. I tried the grilled vegetarian burrito (mild sauce) and a regular-sized horchata. It came with high-quality (thick) tortilla chips, and sauces (fixings) 'a plenty to choose from. The grilled vegetarian burrito was sooo good. I could tell from my first bite. Everything (onions, mushrooms, rice, refried beans (can choose if refried or black), and cheese melted into each other in a delicious way. The tortilla itself was high quality- moist and thick. The portion (even the regular-sized that I got) was generous. The horchata, served fresh, was so yummy as well.
Aside from the first thing I've tried there being delicious, the restaurant staff was friendly and gracious. They seemed to really appreciate the business, as when I left, I heard a very sincere "Thank you!" from the person who helped me at the register.
The restaurant is cozy, homey, good for eating alone or in a small group. I enjoyed the patio, where colorful decorations and succulent plants made the...
