Some of the reviews of this property were a bit troubling, but I'm glad I ignored them and experienced this friendly hotel for myself. One person's experience isn't always going to be the same as your own!||||It is true that there are a few negatives about this hotel, but they are minor and it all depends on your perspective. My stay was pleasant and for a basic property, you really can't expect more than a clean, comfortable, reasonably priced stay.||||The challenge is primarily the location. This small hotel of about 30 rooms, is ostensibly an airport property, but although it is close to SFO airport in terms of distance, it's not very close in terms of a direct transportation route. There's no shuttle currently, so you'll need an Uber or taxi and it takes much longer to get there than you might think. San Bruno itself isn't much to get excited about, but you are quite close to San Francisco itself and you can get there quite quickly by Caltrain or BART if you're not driving. Both stations are in walking distance. There is parking on site if you do have a car, but as I didn't, I don't know if that's an extra charge. Despite the close proximity of the SFO flight path, there is no aircraft noise at all, although there is quite a lot of noise from the traffic on the very busy street.||||The hotel is relatively new. I'd guess built in the 21st century and like so many hotels, wasn't built with soundproofing. You can pretty much hear everything going on in the next rooms and unfortunately for me, the guests in the room above me were in training for the Olympic trampolining event. At least, it sounded like that. Since all the floors in the rooms are laminate wood, there's nothing to deaden the heavy guests above you.||||Leaving the noise issues aside, the property is clean, friendly and the rooms spacious and modern. It appears to be family run and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. They'll do their best to solve any problems no matter how small. However, they make you pay for your stay entirely on check in, not check out.||||Rooms surround a pleasant atrium, where there is seating and tables. I think they did use to serve an inclusive breakfast here, but this has gone thanks to COVID and is not provided. Rooms have microwaves and fridges and a coffee maker, but there's no tea provided or drinking water. You can safely drink from the faucet.||||Rooms are large with very nice decor and feel fresh. The laminate floor and the modern furniture is very smart. The linens aren't exactly fresh, but they're mainly clean. The bed cover was torn and a bit tired and there were ancient stains on the sheets. Housekeeping comes every day to empty the trash and change the towels, but they only clean the rooms every few days and make the bed etc at that time. The housekeeping staff are very nice. Very friendly.||||There is soap and shampoo provided in the bathroom, which has a shower/tub combo with excellent hot water pressure. The towels could again do with a bit more attention to cleaning and they are often torn as well as having historic staining. The sink/vanity is in the main room, separate from the toilet/shower/tub. There is a hairy dryer.||||WIFI is excellent, fast and free and there is a large flat screen TV with many channels. Very good heating and aircon works well. San Bruno is very much in the SF summer fog belt, so you may be surprised that you need the heating in the summer months. Windows open for fresh air and thankfully have fly screens, so there are no bugs invited in through the windows when open. However, there is no safe in the room for valuables. ||||I had an extended work stay at this property and got a reasonable rate, thanks in part to rates being a bit lower than normal due to the COVID crisis. I think I got my money's worth, but if the prices rise, I'm not sure I'd be prepared to pay more. It's a clean, friendly property, but basic. Nothing wrong with that! I have quite a few work projects in the area in the coming months and if I can get a similar rate, I'll...
Read moreDO NOT GO THERE!!! We had booked 2 rooms and they bed bugs in both of the rooms for my employees and husband. They had to leave at 5:15am on 4/14 to head into work and could not let management know. We tried calling to get help and change at least the pillows last night and Nikki said that there we no more pillows? I asked her to please check and she said she was by herself and could not leave. I encouraged her after I said I was going to call the manager in the morning and she said she would she if she could find some pillows somewhere????? By the time she arrived both of the occupants were already in bed. They used towels to make up for the disgusting sleeping areas. We got in the hotel late the next night after working a full day. I called the next morning and spoke to Just the manager and she informed me that they needed to do a room inspection with a Manager. However, they did not offer to do a room inspection and there were no managers to inspect so that story was inaccurate. Two of the three occupants got attacked by the infestation of the bugs. We work at a very high end new construction building and there was no chance of this happening anywhere but the rooms. They left early this morning and said goodbye. Judy seems to think since my crew said goodbye that there were no problems. They were being kind and didn't speak much English. I only asked to have 1 night refunded due to the disgusting nature versus the 2 nights for both rooms. Judy said there were no bed bugs this morning when they checked and basically said we were lying. BBB will be...
Read moreWe booked a “King suite with sofa bed” via booking.com and specifically booked for 3 people. When we arrived we were given a room with a queen bed and no sofa bed, that could not have slept 3 people. The management admitted that they had made a mistake in room allocation, but initially only offered for us to purchase another room for $65 or to refund us the extra charge for a 3rd person or to give us a full refund and we can go elsewhere. This was not what I’ve seen other hotels do, usually if there’s a mistake like this they will comp you another room, but the management was completely inflexible and weirdly insistent that they “can’t just give a room for free.” We were very flexible and open to any method that would allow sleeping 3 people, including a cot or switching rooms, but they refused to appropriately give us what we paid for. Even after a lot of back and forth we ended up having to pay $30 extra on top of what we originally paid for another room so we could fit 3 people.
So, if you’re booking this type of room or booking for more than 1-2 people, I would not risk going here and being stuck with the inflexible management if you get the wrong room type. On the other hand, if I had booked a queen room, it was a perfectly fine, quiet, large, clean room with free coffee near the airport. I wouldn’t book here if you’re a group given this...
