Bottlecraft North Park — Restaurant in San Diego

Took a friend to find local beers from his home town. Friend is 31 years old. This location wouldn't sell him beers due to his ID looking different from him, his picture id is young looking, gentleman behind counter says they will accept a passports, friend pulls out his passport and is told they can't accept it due to not being an offical California ID. I then offer to buy the beer and am denied since I walked in with my friend. I was a loyal customer till that moment. I will never shop at any brance of this chain again.

Although i understand the fear that ABC has put into your business, the California ID was young looking, the passport photo was less than 6 month old and looks exactly like my friend. The employee stated it was not a California ID after telling him that he can look at a passport. The same employee then stated he cannot tell if the passport is real and cannot verify the passport. We did not understand why someone would say the passport is an accepted form of ID and then deny the ID. I do wish your company the best of luck, I had always enjoyed the options of cheese and beers but this to me was an insult beyound beliefs, the employee should of never offered the option of a passport if the employee did not know how to look at one. However, This was my second visit to the North Park location and I (including the party we were with) got the vibe from the two dudes pouring beer that was way off with the norm you would expect from a friendly business. I'm not sure if it was because we were not frequents there but they were so stand offish and unfriendly. I get it, maybe they had a long week or they're struggling with something. I've never been treated with such a lack of courtesy. It felt like we were such an inconvenience to them. Naturally, I'm just one of those friendly and approachable individuals that will spark up a conversation with anyone but they weren't having it. I religiously go to Bottlecraft in North Park. The selection of craft beer is outstanding. They are connected with a cheese shop with excellent cheeses. Most of the day time you will find Gene working the Bottlecraft side. Gene is very knowledgeable and so humble. He gets to know the customers and treats them with much respect. I can't say enough for how much I love this spot. Before the pandemic, you could go have a beer on tap or pick a beer from one of the coolers to have them open and pour a glass for you.
