Food was excellent! I always appreciate having easy vegan options especially with traditional Mexican food as I usually have to check if the rice, beans, tortillas etc are free from lard and chicken broth - the menus clearly stated that there are no animal products in these foods and the menu is also filled with vegan options!
I got the vegan horchata and the 3 enchiladas combo plate that included 1 bean, 1 avocado, and 1 tofu enchilada as well as refried beans and rice. The enchiladas were all very different from each other - the avocado one was wrapped in leafy greens instead of a tortilla and they had different sauces covering them but it was all very tasty.
Unfortunately the service was pretty bad. It took a while to get our server's attention every time we needed something and she rarely checked on us. First, they brought my friend the wrong food completely. Then, when they brought my friend back the right food, she needed new utensils because her utensils were on the plate they took back. Both of those things took a while to even get the attention of the server and added time/delay onto the length of our meal. The food itself took quite a while to come as well which I typically don't mind because it means your food is really fresh, but it's important to note for those who may be in a rush. After we were finished eating we again had to wait and try to get the attention of our server to get the check. Once we paid, she then gave one of us back the WRONG credit card - which is extremely concerning because someone could easily steal another person's credit card information from that!!! And again we had to get our server's attention to correct that issue.
Overall, it's a small place (some seats are a bit in the walkway) with a bit of a mom-and-pop cozy charm to it. The food was really great and very affordable. I'm not sure if they were short staffed and that was the issue with the service, but we just didn't have very good service. I would still recommend giving it a try especially if you're vegan and love...

I've been coming to this spot for years. I've been on dates here, had birthday parties here (for myself and friends), done to-go orders, and dined alone. It's always been a great experience. The service is hospitable and timely, with a down-to-earth, meal-at-home vibe. Every now and then mariachis come through serenading customers as well.
There is something on the menu for everyone. It is quite an extensive menu, with upwards of probably 75-100 items. Over half of the menu can be made vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free.
You have to try their horchata and jamaica, they are so, so good. My favorite menu items of all time are the Seasonal Vegetable Soup w/ Chicken and The Works burrito.
For burritos I highly recommend The Works, El Heathy, and Seasonal Veggies, Black Beans & Papas (add scrambled tofu). For combo playes I recommend the Mole Enchiladas and Chile Relleno & Tostada. Foe tacos I recommend the Carne Asada and the Rolled Potato. I also recommend the Escoba Salad.
This is probably the only place I've ever seen lobster enchiladas and salmon tacos as well. Very unique and flavorful menu.
There is a small parking lot in the back you can access via the alley. There is also a five dollar lot on the corner of Ray Street and North Park Way, as well as a five dollar lot on Ohio St. adjacent Queen Bee's.
Update: Came back just last week with my grandmother (in from Seattle) and my parents. We had a delightful meal of verde enchiladas, carne asada tacos, and horchata. Everything came out fresh and has great flavor profiles. I really liked the salsa roja and the habanero mango salsas they had—both had deep flavors and offered a good range...
Read moreHired for catering upon recommendation from a few people on social media and they were extremely mediocre food at best and rather horrible to work with to be honest. The worst was their business practice — they originally quoted $18 a head for a good amount of food. Then they flipped around 3 days before our event and said it would be $20 a head PLUS an additional $250 “catering” charge!!!! And at that point we were scrambling to find another catering company because it was now out of our budget. We couldn’t find anyone else so stayed with them, which was a huge mistake — I should have followed the red flags. They brought about 1/2 the food they originally talked about bringing when we hired them, and some of the food was flat out rotten (like the fruit they served was literally either rotten or green). And the rest of the food was poor quality. And then the “owner” for the catering had the nerve to call me and start cursing at me in Mexican Spanish and called me names and claimed that she was owed an ADDITIONAL $450 because more people showed up to our party than expected (is that my fault? Didn’t you only bring the amount of food we ALREADY paid for and agreed upon?) so she charged me more!! We just decided to be “kind” and make the extra cost (50% more now than the original quote!) their “tip”. Extremely unprofessional, difficult to work with and pin down, and pulling a fake-sick scam (“I was in the hospital all week that’s why you could t reach me” she kept saying). Truly, would never recommend to anyone. An utterly horrible, awful, and stressful experience all around. It actually ruined our party and caused a lot of stress when it was supposed to be...
