A Toast to Excellence: Cheba Hut's Subs Elevate the Game In a world where sandwiches are a dime a dozen, Cheba Hut stands out as a beacon of hope for those seeking a truly exceptional experience. Their "toasted" subs have gained a reputation for excellence, and I was eager to explore the hype surrounding this beloved chain. In this review, I'll dive into the details of my encounter with Cheba Hut, highlighting the standout stars of their menu, including the White Widow and Thai Stick. As I stepped into Cheba Hut, I was immediately struck by the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. The rustic-chic decor, complete with wooden accents and vibrant colors, created a cozy and inviting environment. The open kitchen added a touch of excitement, allowing patrons to witness the culinary magic unfold. The friendly staff exuded enthusiasm and warmth, making me feel right at home My journey began with the White Widow, a delectable sub featuring tender chicken, crispy bacon, creamy avocado, and melted provolone cheese, all nestled within a crispy baguette. The first bite was nothing short of revelatory. The textures harmonized in perfect symphony, with each component complementing the others in a delightful dance of flavors. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, while the bacon added a satisfying crunch. The avocado brought creaminess, and the provolone cheese tied everything together with its rich, velvety texture. Next, I ventured into the realm of the Thai Stick, a vegetarian masterpiece starring grilled tofu, crispy tempeh, shredded carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and spicy Thai peanut sauce, all nestled within a soft, fluffy baguette. This sub was a vibrant explosion of flavors, with each bite delivering a delightful balance of sweet, savory, and...
Read moreNormally a great experience but this time was horrible. We had a great experience with the cashier Jonathan but the girl with the long reddish brown hair was a royal witch today. I saw her getting a drink from the bar tender that he mixed behind the counter so I dont know if that what was with her attitude or not. My bf ordered a plain white widow which every other time we come come with just the chicken, cheese, bacon, and ranch so we just ask for the parmesan. When we got our food to the table my boyfriend noticed mushrooms in his sandwich which we hadn't asked for. We asked the girl if she could remake it and after she scoffed she turned around to go back to the kitchen. It took them about 5 min to make the other sandwich and when it came out my bf made sure to check and. Under the cheese was more mushrooms! We asked for it to be taken back one last time and when the nice kid took it back to her she started hand picking the mushrooms out of the sandwich, covered it with more cheese and came back to our table. She was very rude and said that we should ask for no mushrooms if that's what we really wanted and then asked with so much attitude, "what you want me to remake it for you? Are you allergic?". Doesnt matter if he is or not we asked for the sandwich plain and then just got attitude from her. The whole time we were eating I could see her talking about us like were crazy. Normally we have a great experience and the last time we had a bone in our meal which the manager remade the sandwich no questions asked. Common courtesy goes a long way in...
Read moreWe loved it, our kids loved it, and I am thankful to whoever the amazing human is that came up with this idea and turned it into this wild and crazy deliciousness. Please, please come open one in NYC! My 7yo rarely remembers or raves about food much unless it's made an impression on her, and a month later she's still asking to fly back just to eat here lol
Fun, fun ambience! Fantastic service. I love that there are three flavors of Kool-Aid. It was so wonderful introducing our children to our childhood drink.
Unless you're doing the Sticky Icky (PBJ), the garlic herb bread is definitely the way to go for your sandwich. I love that you can customize your sandwich and make anything vegetarian. So many different varieties - I wish I had more time to try them all!
Our favorites - 3yo loved the Sticky Icky on white or wheat with PB and Strawberry jam. Our 7yo's favorite every time we went (yes, multiple visits because it was that good, and it was also right next door to our hotel) was the Chiesel - which I have to admit was our favorite too, except we got it with jalapeno cream cheese drool.
I tried the A-Train, was not my favorite, and would probably modify it if I got it again to have less veggies.
I need to stop writing this review or I'll be tempted to buy a plane ticket to San Diego and go directly to Cheba Hut.
Go, you won't be disappointed! Seriously - some of the best sandwiches ever, and who doesn't love being a kid again and having...
