Crab Town – A Flavor-Packed Seafood Boil Experience in Convoy Nestled in a bustling plaza in Kearny Mesa’s Convoy area, Crab Town is a go-to spot for Louisiana-style seafood boils, drawing a big crowd—especially on weekend nights. The atmosphere is lively and casual, perfect for digging into a messy, satisfying seafood feast. The décor follows an oceanic theme, with shark and crab wall art, and nautical touches that make you feel like you're on a sailboat adventure. Large screens for sports games add to the fun, though be aware that Padres games may be blocked. The menu centers around customizable seafood combos, with choices like crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, mussels, and more. You can select your preferred sauce base and spice level from mild to fire (extra spicy), and during special seasons, fresh instead of frozen crawfish are available. I opted for a mix of crawfish and shrimp, both of which were tender and flavorful. The “Crab Town” sauce base is highly recommended — a delicious, bold blend of garlic butter, lemon pepper, and Cajun spices. The moderate one is the right spicy level for me. Peeling seafood can take some effort, but the restaurant provides a handy guide to make it easier. Dipping the peeled seafood back into the broth takes the flavor to the next level. Next time, I’d go with headless shrimp to enjoy more of the sauce without the hassle. There are also great appetizers, like raw oysters, fries, butter bread, and chicken wings. I visited during weekday happy hour and scored half-price oysters (fresh and clean) and chicken wings for $0.75 each (minimum six). I asked for plain wings to skip the sauce, and the staff was happy to accommodate. Service here is warm and attentive. The team was happy to change the TV channel to my preferred game, kept me stocked with paper towels and gloves, and made the overall experience comfortable. Crab Town offers bold flavors, great service, and a fun vibe—perfect for seafood lovers looking for a hearty and hands-on dining experience.

【Food safety concern】 Please read before you dine here!!! What happened during my visit to Crab Town left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, and honestly, DISGUSTED. I'm not someone who typically leaves negative reviews, especially when the food is actually decent. The ambiance was casual and fun--great for seafood lovers and families. We’ve been eating here on a monthly basis, but would NEVER come back again. But during a recent afternoon visit with my 4-year-old son, I ordered a half portion of snow crab ($19), some boiled veggies, and a kid's meal. The crab came out in a plastic bag with two clusters. Since they were hot, I placed them on my plate to cool while we started eating. Then something truly shocking happened: A staff member came back and told me they had accidentally served me a full portion instead of a half, and asked if I'd like to pay more. I politely said no, since I had only ordered a half. She then put on gloves, reached into my plate, and took one of the crab clusters away--clearly intending to serve it to someone else. This was incredibly disturbing. If staff are allowed to take food from a customer's plate and return it to the kitchen, what does that say about their hygiene practices behind the scenes? No matter how decent the food might be, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Customers deserve to know their food hasn't been previously handled or served to others.

Found a new seafood boil restaurant. One of the best If not the best. Great flavor and spice to the boil! Plentiful serving. Service was great. Definitely earned a new customer. Highly recommended!

We have returned several times after this post. Always great. The last time we ordered the same crab boil. House spice and MILD. Once home started feasting. We immediatly noticed the MILD wasn't MILD. Couldn't eat it. TOO HOT. Called them and they would replace it. Was made to feel I had a sensitivity problem. Stated we had always ordered the MILD with no issues. Manager wasn't courteous. Got home and noticed the new order was not a full order. I stated we removed the crayfish heads, clam shells (weight). Ate 2 potatoes, 3 slices of sausage & 1 crab leg. Apparently they weighed what we brought back and removed items. Really cheap to do this as we didn't get what we ordered to start with. Returning the order was a 50 mile round trip. We will not go back. They lost a customer. Not the way to treat returning customers or any customers. If the manager was having a bad day he should have stayed home. No excuse. The customer is not always right but they got the order wrong to start with. I was made to feel I was in the wrong or had...
