This place has recently taken over Big Cheech's Chicken adjacent to Starbucks serving 100% hand slaughtered halal. After eating here, I have to say the crispy zinger burger definitely has some potential. The flavor was very tasty, but the chicken portion between the buns was to small relative to the size of the bun. If they stick with the same sesame seed bun, which is a very good bun, they definitely need to kick up the size of the fried crispy chicken in the burger, like they display on their advertisements. The DB sauce that came on sandwich was very good, the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, and the American cheese not melted, which should of been. I order a side of the potato garlic tots, but they did not come with ant garlic on them. I did not understand that. When I question it, I was told the garlic was in the side sauce that came with the tots. Sadly, however, the sauce did not taste like garlic at all. I don't know about you, when I order garlic tots, they usually come with, at the very least, garlic seasoning, but preferably fresh garlic on top. They need to rethink how they make the garlic tots. Service was good. They offered not much conversation, but when it did happen, it was friendly.

Deccan Bites is truly a gem in San Diego’s halal fast-food scene—a place that was long missing in the area. From the moment you step inside, you’ll notice the clean and welcoming atmosphere complemented by excellent customer service. The food is nothing short of top-notch, with flavors that transport you straight to Hyderabad. One of the standout dishes is their broast chicken—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, packed with just the right amount of spice. Their Irani chai is another must-try, offering an authentic taste of Hyderabad’s signature tea☕️. And, of course, the shawarma is flavorful and perfectly balanced, making it a favorite among customers. Abdul, the owner of Deccan Bites, has a clear vision and deep passion for serving high-quality halal food to the community. His dedication is evident in every dish, ensuring that customers get an authentic and satisfying experience. Oh, not to forget the Osmania biscuits, it's heavenly delicious. I genuinely wish Deccan Bites great success and hope it continues to thrive. It’s a place that brings back nostalgic flavors and provides a much-needed halal fast-food option in San Diego.🫡🫡🫡🫡🙌🙌🙌

I was excited to visit this place after seeing so many positive reviews, only to be disappointed big time. I ordered the irani chai, Osmania cookies, and maskabun. They took 30 minutes to serve this while the people who came after us, got their full meal orders and they were nonchalant about it too. Irani Chai had weird raw taste of milk, and it is definitely not the best chai/tea in San Diego. If anything, it’s the worst tea/chai I ever had in my life. Maska bun lacked the maska(butter). Osmania cookies had 3 pieces of cookies. Then, we placed the ordered for Paneer 65 with rumali roti combo and a hot & spicy zinger burger. Paneer 65 had unnecessary artificial orange/red Color in it and it literally stained our hands while eating it. Rumali Roti is supposed be like a rumal (handkerchief) meaning soft, thin, and delicate. It was very chewy and stiff to eat. Hot & spicy zinger chicken burger was neither hot nor spicy. It was an average chicken sandwich with a big bun. Disappointed over all. Never visiting again.

I had the privilege of being the very first customer at the grand opening of Deccan Bites, a new Indian Halal fast food joint in San Diego that promises an authentic taste with a modern twist. Here's how my (family) experience unfolded: A detailed review -

Customer Service:

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. Cashier was not only quick and efficient but also incredibly warm and welcoming. The service was exemplary, with a personal touch that made me feel like a special guest rather than just another customer. The staff's enthusiasm was contagious, making my dining experience memorable before even tasting the food.

Food:

Broast Chicken (4pcs) - $16.99: The broast chicken was a revelation - crispy on the outside yet succulently tender within. Each piece was seasoned to perfection, offering a delightful crunch followed by juicy, flavorful meat.

Chicken Tenders (4pcs) - $16.99: These tenders were the epitome of comfort food. They were golden, crispy, and the meat was moist, proving that Deccan Bites knows how to do fried chicken right.

Chicken Wings (6pcs) - $10.99: Tossed in a free Buffalo sauce, these wings were a spicy, tangy delight. The sauce was balanced, enhancing the natural flavors of the chicken without overpowering it.

Irani Chal (2) - $6.98: This was my introduction to a special Indian tea that's not commonly found on menus.

Chicken Shawarma (2) - $23.98: The shawarma was a standout. The meat was flavorful and tender, wrapped in soft, fresh pita with all the right fixings. Each bite was a harmonious blend of spices, textures, and freshness.

Cream Fruit Delight - $7.47: A sweet end to the meal, this dessert was a creamy, fruity concoction that was both refreshing and indulgent. It was the perfect palate cleanser. Fountain Soda - $5.99: The drink was a nice touch, offering a refreshing break between the savory and sweet courses.

Rabdi Jamun - $4.99: The traditional Indian dessert was executed brilliantly here. The gulab jamuns were soft, soaked in sweet, cardamom-flavored syrup, and topped with rabdi that added a rich, creamy layer to this classic dish.

Atmosphere:

The ambiance was vibrant, with the decor reflecting a modern interpretation of Indian culture. The place buzzed with energy, yet there was an underlying calm that made dining there a pleasure.

My whole family enjoyed the delicious food at this new Indian restaurant. Being the first customer at Deccan Bites was not just about enjoying some of the best Indian Halal cuisine I've had but also about witnessing the birth of what I believe will be a local San Diego favorite. The combination of authentic flavors with a fast food twist, alongside top-notch service, sets Deccan Bites apart. If you're looking for a new spot to explore with food that's both comforting and adventurous, this is your place. Highly...

I recently ordered from Deccan Bites and decided to try a mix of items — their shawarma sandwich, chicken nuggets, and the classic chicken 65 — and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed.

Shawarma Sandwich: This was the star of the order. The wrap was fresh and warm, packed generously with tender, juicy chicken that had the perfect balance of spices. The garlic sauce added a creamy, tangy kick without overpowering the meat, and the veggies were crisp and refreshing. Easily one of the better shawarmas I’ve had in a while.

Chicken Nuggets: Surprisingly good! I wasn’t expecting much, but the nuggets were crispy on the outside and soft and moist inside. They weren’t your average frozen-style nuggets — they tasted freshly made, with a subtle seasoning that gave them a little something extra.

Chicken 65: This dish came through with bold flavors. The chicken was well-marinated, spicy, and had that classic South Indian touch. Slightly crispy on the edges and tender in the center, with just enough heat to wake up your taste buds without going overboard.

Overall: Deccan Bites really delivered. You can tell they care about quality and flavor. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a flavorful dish with some spice, they’ve got you covered. Will definitely be...
