Denny's Restaurant — Restaurant in San Diego

Ended up going over to Denny’s to pick up breakfast for my parents. Instead of ordering it on Uber Eats or DoorDash, I wanted to have it picked up since I had to go out anyway. This location was really busy on a Friday morning. There were people waiting in the lobby, but I didn’t see anyone waiting more than 10 or 15 minutes. Pretty reasonable for a relatively small store in a premium location.

The food was good as always. We ordered two Moons Over My Hammy. I’d never seen that on the menu before, and it was amazingly good. For my mom, we ordered French toast and a side of bacon. She’s a much lighter eater.

Just like all the other Denny’s, the staff was efficient and super friendly. For all the pressure and speed they have to produce food, they keep a smiling face nonstop. It’s really commendable.

This location has plenty of Spanish-speaking staff, which is helpful for the neighborhood. It’s a strong Mexican-American community, and there are no issues with that. I grew up in San Ysidro, and having a Denny’s right near Nestor is great.

There used to be one next to the Chevron station on the east side of Interstate 5, but that one closed a long time ago. (Grew up in the 1980s here). I was super happy when this new location opened. It’s much smaller, but it’s a brand-new building. This used to be a dirt lot after the old post office was torn down.

This is the most awesome Denny’s location I’ve been in the whole country! The service and food overall is outstanding! When you get in the door, you are greeted and upon seats availability you are escorted to your seat. The hostess and the staff are very pleasant especially the manager Pelita. Despite of their being busy, she and her staff make their way to check how you are doing and if you are in need of anything. They are in their toes making sure everyone in the restaurant is taken care well of. And the food, oh it’s so good, quality at its best! You can request how you want your food is cooked whether it’s crispy hash browns, eggs over easy etc. This restaurant has varieties of food choices to accommodate every customers needs from breakfast to dinner. And the prices are so affordable. Upon paying your bill, they offer discounts for seniors, aarp, military and any other coupons you may have. This place must be the best of Denny’s because there’s line outside and people are willing to wait. I would wait too because their service and staff is just wonderful, they are worthy of the wait. Came here at around 10pm after a long flight and very hungry. The waitress took for ever to ask for our drinks and even more to take our order, which not surprisingly lasted even longer, about an hour all together. I ordered their salmon with zucchini and potatoes. What i got where rubbery and dry zucchini, potatoes that were cold yet had grease all over them as if they didn't have the time to even refry them with the 30+ min wait for our meal. The salmon was thinner than the shortest slice of lemon, which was dry and had no flavor. After requesting to speak with the manager the waitresses throws an attitude stating that everything was made fresh. When the manager came he offered no solution, not even to actually make the dish fresh, he just gave an attitude and claimed the same lie her hostess said, after we had seen them talking before he approached us. He then snatched the plate away leaving me with no dinner. After the interaction and everyone else had finished the hostess comes and in the receipt there's a charge for the salmon dish i didn't even eat. Horrible service, if you can please avoid this Denny's location...
