Have to say the concept was good but poorly executed. The place is super small and there is one person cooking and another that keeps running to the liquor store to get beverages. I have never seen a restaurant that doesn't at least have water. What drew me there was the idea of fresh local fish. What will keep me from going back was the hygiene of the person cooking. The "chef" was drinking beer and tasting the food as he was cooking. This is a huge no in the food safety world. He was wiping his sweat with his shirt. No apron. No gloves. He was using his sushi knife to cut other things. Nothing was cleaned or sanitized. He sneezed on the back of his hand and had to be told to wash his hands and then promptly put his hands to his face after washing his hands. Not sure what 8 hour food manager class he took but he sure needs a do-over and his license to operate a restaurant revoked. I only had one dish and left as I didn't want to risk getting sick and I walked out. Dine at...
Read moreThe good: it's a really good spot with inventive food. Tacos are on par with what you would find at Puesto. Lots of variety: poke, sushi, tacos, hand rolls, etc. The bad: it's a bit pricy. $5 a taco, $12 a roll, etc. That's on par with Puesto, Coasterra, Harney Sushi, Hane, etc. But comparatively the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically a converted tiny house, and you're eating on the "porch" with Surfboards as tables. All while facing a busy street. It's a very small eating area. I first went there with a group of 5. We had to go somewhere else because there was not enough space. Summary: its like upscale dining meets beach shack, at upscale dining prices. With the small dining space, I wish they had more items that would be good for take out and priced better, so I can quickly pick it up and go...
Read moreI love this place and the owner of the restaurant is a really cool guy. Nice vibe, nice service, but there are some important things I need to address.
1.) Understaffed. One man running the show is amazing when it comes down to getting the job done right. However, when it gets busy, customer's suffer. Either the food takes too long or the service is rushed. Be aware that summer attracts more people so you can expect a wait.
2.) Quality of food. The quality is amazing quite honestly. However, the raw meats are sub par. I love sushi and I found myself feeling unsatisfied with what I got (I tried two different sushies).
If you come here, I HIGHLY recommend trying the grilled food and their tacos. Amazing tacos and their unique drinks are probably the best that I've...
