This place is tiny but they have a fairly big selection of items. I particularly love the samosas here even though they're a bit small -- but they're the least expensive in the region and very savory. [UPDATE: I just checked their newly-updated Web site and it seems that the price of 2 pieces has gone up by 50% -- now $3. For that price, Namaste Plaza northwest of here has two large pieces of samosa that taste just as good.]
I drop by about once a month, and occasionally have combo plate, which usually has several items included, for a reasonable price. But the last two times I've done this, I got home to realize several items (raita, dal, etc.) were missing. If you do takeout, make sure to look inside the container before you leave. I still got quite a few items, but I wasn't impressed with the lamb kebab meat -- though usually the paratha, rice and dal (lentil soup), raita/ yogurt that comes in the combo...
Read moreHonestly, this place has decent food (though certainly not the best Indian I've tasted in San Diego), but its wait times are horrible.
Even though it's setup like Panda Express, whenever you order a combo, you have to wait for the naan to be heated, which takes almost 15 minutes. I've even had to wait as long as 25 minutes before, and just today when I placed a simple order for somosas, it took them 10 minutes to bring them back out, slightly hotter.
The staff won't tell you this (I've been there several times, and they never say anything about how long it might take), and in fact are barely polite to guests even while they're ordering.
In sum, don't go to this place if you're in a rush and hoping to get food on less than 10 minutes. Even when you're the only customer they're serving, you will still have to wait a...
Read moreCame here for dinner with my wife on a Tuesday. It had a short line for ordering. We ordered their combo, which came with a choice for curry, naan, rice, and,I assume, dal. The staff was welcoming and polite. They brought out our tray and helped us get plastic forks and spoons. The food had good spice level, which we asked for medium. Although my wife said her spice wasn't there. I ordered the lamb curry, which the flavor was good. Good, but not the best I had. Same for my wife's butter chicken curry. The naan was not as thick, but was enough for the meal. The place is small and maintained. This was our first Indian restaurant for San Diego, so it would be unfair to compare with other Indian restaurants at this time and decide if it is a place we'd...
