If I could give this restaurant a negative 0 review I would. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. My family and I wanted to try a new restaurant and We were treated like low class citizens from the moment we walked in the door. We are not Korean, but didn’t see anywhere that that was a requirement to eat at this establishment. The waitress was rude and treated us like crap from the moment we walked in. Never asked if we wanted anything to drink. Never gave us menus, we happened to have One at the table. We had to call her over to tell her we were new to the experience and asked if she could explain how the menu worked. She hastily did and then walked away, again, never asking if we wanted drinks or an appetizer. We finally ordered and got our food, which again, we had to ask how it worked but eventually just tried to figure it out. We wanted and ordered fried rice with the meal. She told us it came at the end of the meal. So we ate, which she never came by to see how it was or if we needed anything. Finally we said we would like our fried rice (our kids were looking forward to that part the entire meal). She hemmed and hawed and called another server over. We said, we Just Want Our Fried Rice. Our kids want the Fried Rice. They acted as if we asked for something not on the menu. It was horrible. I finally just said please get me our bill, we are leaving. Then she tried to charge us for the fried rice!!!!!! I was livid by this time. We paid and got up and left. Such a horrible place. Just bc you aren’t Korean, doesn’t mean you can’t eat at a Korean restaurant. Your service was horrible and rude and, thus, made our entire family uncomfortable and we were unable to enjoy any of the food. In addition, we all got sick and had stomach issues after the meal. Worst experience Ever. Shame on you as...
Read moreJomaru Gamjatang Korean Hot Pot San Diego, California
Chuck and I had dined at a few Hot Pot Restaurants recently. Most of those were Japanese or Chinese Hot Pots. We have never tried a Korean Hot Pot Restaurant before so we decided to try Jomaru which is a franchise from South Korea.
The restaurant was decorated nicely and the tables had induction burners for the Hot Pot. The service was excellent and our waitress was very informative and very friendly. She explained in detail the menu items for the Hot Pot and there were several you can choose from. She was very attentive and also very personable. The prices were very reasonable for a Hot Pot Restaurant. $40.00 for a medium Hot Pot for two and $55.00 for a large Hot Pot for three people.
Since this was our first time we decided to order their most popular Hot Pot which was Gam Ja Tang which is a Spicy Pork Bone Soup. Before we receive our Banchan which were all delicious. I especially loved the Kimchi and the Korean pepper. Along with the Hot Pot dish you can order several "Add On" items such as Ramen, Udon, Potato Pasta, etc. We decided to get the Seasoned Napa Cabbage, Ramen, and Fried Rice which is served near the end of the meal. All those were a great and delicious accompaniment to the Hot Pot. The Hot Pot was filled with lots of meat, mushrooms, Perilla Leaves, Potato, and some other vegetables. The Broth was delicious and just had enough spice or heat to tickle your throat. The meat was tender. The fried rice came near the end if the meal which was also delicious.
You can also order some of thier specialty dishes which is found on the other side of the Menu. You will find Bulgogi, Bibimpap, Pork Cutlet, California, etc.
Overall I would definitely return to dine here. The service was fantastic and the...
Read moreFood was meh, side dishes was ok, no spinach and beansprout tho. Service was terrible. There is special if you check in with you app, you get a free soda. Checked in twice, assuming having 2 cans of soda for 2 person out of 7. No one ever told us the deal was only valid for 1 soda per table, even if your table is 2 person or 10 person, its still one 12oz can. Then the older waitress dropped off the check of the table while we were trying to get more side dish. What I heard from her is no more refills on the side dish, this is the last round for you guys. Never been to a Korean restaurant with a limited refill for side dishes. While the check was left on the table, the older waitress grabbed the check she dropped off 2 min ago and swapped with a revised one, thinking no one would notice. The change was adding a can of soda from the check in deal. When I say free, they actually charge you $0.01. Of course with the obligatory 18% service charge for party of 6+, which we didn't get...
