It’s been awhile since my last visit to Khan’s Cave in Clairmont Mesa. Always good experience. Ended up getting some bites here and couple martinis (happy hour) before heading off to see Margaret Cho live show down the street. Had time not been an issue, we would have sat in the dining area, but with a wait time of approximately 30-40 minutes. We sat in a comfy booth at the bar area instead and it was perfect. It was also a little louder due to sports on TVs and loud talking people that surrounded the bar. We were in and out anyway. We enjoyed our gyozas, chicken wraps and drinks.

Service was slower than expected. Gyozas arrived 20 minutes after the chicken wraps. It was also not served hot. It was returned and came back renewed in no time. Condiments also came out later. Our main server was too busy, in and out kitchen, also attending to dining area. He wasn’t a bad server, he was just hard to get a hold of for the little things we needed. He was polite and friendly.

Khan’s Cave tonight was a full house. This restaurant has been a an all time favorite tavern for my companions last night. With its trendy, bold and classic oriental interior coupled with delicious foods and drinks, one can easily become a fan favorite of this place too. Hands...

Stopped in for late lunch today based on good reviews here and elsewhere. They are correct! I really liked my lunch and the place. They have a lunch menu which doesn't show up on their website. I had shrimp with lobster sauce from it. It's sometimes a bland dish but here full of flavor. Not lobster-y, but very shrimp-y. Yum. There were over a dozen medium shrimp, very nicely seasoned. For 13 dollars, a bargain and I was very full. The dish did not come with vegetables beyond some cubed carrots and peas in the rice so the server added some broccoli at my request for no extra charge. Little dribbles of sriracha and homemade chili-garlic sauce served on the side were a treat but not necessary.

The service was peppy and friendly. The decor is quite dated but clean and not unattractive. Toilet in the men's room very clean. Not-annoying retro muzak. I'll definitely come back when I'm in...

The food is among the best in town and overall some of the very best I have had. There are MANY accolades I can honor this establishment with starting with the quality and consistency of the food and menu. Try anything and you will be convinced and converted. I'll let your experience spread the gospel! The bar and drink menu is absolutely top notch; variety, quality and unique! TRY the TEMPLETON RYE - BARREL AGED lemon ginger old fashion !!! Atmosphere is Amazing. Live music and singers! A truly great place to hang out ! Become a "cave member" and earn free food and drinks !!!!!! Now onto the BAD aspects.... The service, It can be bad. Some servers are good some BAD! The service can be so BAD as to make you never want to come back! It really depends on WHO you get. I hope you don't get one of the BAD ones on your first visit...come back if you do, because the bar and food is WORTH IT !!! SEE YOU...

It was my first time dining here with some friends and we unexpectedly (but luckily) made a reservation during happy hour. We were very pleased with the variety of options on the happy hour menu and the reasonable price points ($5-$12 food items). I ordered the seared sesame ahi salad and chicken lettuce wraps which were both tasty and refreshing. The atmosphere was very casual and the restaurant itself wasn’t busy (Tuesday evening). The host was kind enough to seat us in a quieter area since we chat a lot over dinner. The servers were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

What a great meal! Wasn't sure what to expect from the name, but the reviews were good and we were in the area and hungry! My hubby loved his lamb Mongolian stir fry... tender and tasty. I was worried that the chicken curry would be too spicy since it had the hot chili symbol next to it on the menu, but the waiter assured me it wasn't spicy. He was right. Delicious yellow curry with lots of tender chicken. The waiter was attentive and funny. We will definitely return!
