All other reviews are correct about the food options and the service. BUT, I have a recent complaint. I only go there a couple of times a month. I am a student of Spanish and all of the cooks are from Mexico. They are so sweet and when they have time, they let me practice the language with them. There is a jukebox ( AMI company) in the restaurant. I know which Latin Amercan songs the cooks enjoy listening too. So for moral and their pleasure I play them. The cooks all enjoy that very much and thank me for playing the tunes. BUT,, here is the shocking result! The owner of Peabody's asked me not to play the music as the regulars do not like it. The regulars rule the restaurant.
So, it is discrimination against my choice of music. When the owner is not there, I can play the music. BUT, get this trivial situation. Recently she was there and started blocking the music I was playing from the jukebox. ( of course she has the master password as owner)
This is a ridiculous thing to do, and really not even worth my time to write about it, but it is good for other customers to know that you better not play Latin American Music. Isn't this a hoot!! How trivial! Plus. when the owner had been a prior server in Peabody's I always gave her huge tips! I even tip the cooks independently as they work so hard. So much for appreciation!
I do not understand her attitude and am sad about the discrimination and small mindedness displayed...
BUT... the food IS good and the variety has certainly improved since she bought...
Read moreI've lived nearby for 4 years, and this was my first time here. No idea why it's taken my so long to give it a try, but I'll be returning. It's a great little hole-in-the-wall pub that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went for brunch on that Thursday that everyone took off for Opening Day at Petco Park, but the 1:10 Padres game got rain delayed to 6:40. My friend and I decided to grab some food at around 1pm, and we decided to give this place a try. It is tiny and has that neighborhood pub feel... a little dark, a little grimy (just a little bit), and very homey.
Service was great. When we walked in and looked lost they yelled at us from the bar to sit anywhere. There are multiple TV screens showing various sporting events all over. We picked a booth to sit in - the table was a little dirty. Our server came right over, brought us menus and took our drink order. She was very friendly. I wiped off the table with the napkins she brought. I ordered the sunrise burger and my friend ordered a breakfast scramble. Both were delicious and the portions were large. Neither of us could finish our meals, so we took it home.
Will definitely return! It seems like a great place to grab a burger and a beer and watch a game. Solid four stars for what it is. We didn't know what to expect, but it still exceeded our...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked into Mr Peabody’s, I knew I was in for something special. The shrimp, carne asada, and birria tacos were absolutely amazing—packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. Each bite was better than the last.
The staff was top notch—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A standout moment was when the owner personally stopped by my table, introduced herself, and even corrected my meal without me having to say a word. That kind of proactive service is rare and really left an impression.
The vibe of the place was just as impressive as the food. The regulars were incredibly kind and welcoming—I felt like part of the family from the get-go. A special shoutout to Will and Vickie for the great conversations and warm hospitality.
I’ll absolutely be back. Mr Peabody’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s...
