Iâve been a loyal Blenders customer for yearsâsince the original Santa Barbara location where the concept began. Iâve always enjoyed their smoothies, and on this visit I purchased two large ones that, as always, tasted absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the customer service and integrity of the staff at this San Diego location were deeply disappointing.
After leaving, I realized I had accidentally left my cell phone on the waiting table just outside the shop. Using âFind My iPhone,â I tracked it and saw it was still at Blenders. I immediately called the store and spoke to the same employee who had taken my order. I explained the situation and asked him to please grab my phone until I arrived. At first, he said âokay,â but shortly after, he called me back claiming my phone wasnât there and that his coworker had already cleaned the table.
This was dishonest. There were only two employees working, and my phoneâs location clearly showed it was inside the store. As I was pulling up, the same employee called me again. When I walked in, he smiled and suddenly âfoundâ my phone. The older employee behind the counter, who was making smoothies, gave me a look that made it obvious they both knew more than they were admitting.
Whatâs worse, when I got my phone back, my Apple wallet had clearly been tampered with. My cards had been shoved back in incorrectly, my wallet was damaged, and it was obvious someone had been inspecting them. Not only was I lied to on the phone, but it feels like my belongings were rifled through while they hoped I wouldnât come back.
For a business Iâve supported for years, this was a shocking breach of trust. Smoothies may taste good, but dishonesty, tampering with personal belongings, and lying to customers is absolutely unacceptable. I left feeling violated and disappointed. Blenders should take a hard look at who they hire, because this behavior destroys...
Read moreI ordered a large smoothie. I learned the hard way their lids do not hold at all. I paid $14 for this smoothie. My order was called and the cashier tipped out his hand to pass me the drink over the counter, meaning it was hoisted in air at an angle. The only way I could grab it was from the top. As soon as I grabbed it, the lid slid off the styrofoam top sending the contents across the bottom of my clothing and the floor.
I tried to help clean it up and so did another nice customer. The customer was way nicer to me than the associates who looked annoyed and blaming the whole time I need their assistance (I asked for napkins twice) to attend to the matter.
I had to ask twice, two people, if they would remake my drink. They made me awkwardly wait while they decided they would give me what I paid for and lost out of no error of my own. After speaking to another associate, the one who helped me decided he would remake it.
He brought it outside and gave me, I noticed after he walked away, a smoothie two times smaller than what I paid for. I was too annoyed with the situation to say anything else.
Once I tried the replacement smoothie, it was good, but the lid tried to pop off again!
0/10 experience. Obviously my money was best spent elsewhere. Due to the customer service and terrible cups, I would certainly recommend you...
Read moreThe reviews, even months old still hold their weight for SDBlenders. You just know when you arrive and walk in, that it is operated by people who care about people. The experience of ordering wasn't stressful, suggestions were authentic and enthusiastically provided, I didnt feel rushed. The mango smoothie was incredible, the all-fruit acai bowl was a textural delight, and the sandwich was incredible(turkey avocado with Dijon, all the veg options, and their mild basil sauce was so yummy. All three I'd get again. It's definitely a place I'll go to again, knowing it's a local gem and the service is what I remember from the 90s, sweet, authentic and enthusiastic. Any place that gets me excited to come back not just for the food is an automatic 10/10 or on Google, 5 stars! Smoothie and bowl were devoured before I got pics, so you're going to just have to order...
