I got carne asada fries and they were good. Definitely one of the better spots in San Diego, but the fries themselves were wayyy too crispy, a bit too salty, and they needed more guac. Other than that, they were good — like a 7 or 8/10. But bro.. I got a large and it cost me 24 DOLLARS!!!!!! That’s insane. It’s advertised online for like $16 but that must be the medium (I’ve never heard of a medium sized carne asada fries anywhere else). And I ordered over the phone, so I didn’t even know it was gonna be $24.08 until I got to the window. And the large wasn’t even that big. It was your standard size platter of carne asada fries. And I knew it was gonna be overpriced since it’s near SDSU, but I was expecting like $21 AT THE MOST. I can go to my usual spot and get some carne asada fries for like $18 or better yet get my usual California burrito for $14 (best California burrito spot in the city, but I’m gatekeeping). $24 is absolutely insane for some super crunchy, salty fries that don’t have enough guac.
