Yes, they're finally open! After watching with anticipation for the last year as they built out their roasters and cafe, we were so thrilled to finally try it out this morning. This is a much needed addition to the Bay Park neighborhood which has a dearth of restaurants and coffee shops. The space is cool, clean and industrial with the focus being on the roastery. Beautiful materials and for anyone who is familiar with Kitchen 4140, the same layout inside. As with most new locations, the A team is there and the commitment to the drinks is second to none. Absolutely perfect shot of espresso, short and restrained. Delicious lavender latte, with just the right amount of sweetness (and thank you for using organic milk). Very dog friendly and if you live in Bay Ho, easy to walk to. We will definitely be back

I’ve been going to the WestBean location in Banker’s Hill for years, and I’m super happy this company decided to open a new location on Morena near Clairemont and Pacific Beach. They do all their beans in-house, and the quality definitely shines through. I love their espresso! This isn’t necessarily a place to come for breakfast, as their offerings are very limited when it comes to food, but definitely a top-notch purveyor of coffee! This location has a good amount of seating, Wi-Fi, and a nice vibe. It’s also not too crowded. Not a bad spot to hangout and work for a couple hours if need be. Definitely recommend this new WestBean location! Be sure to have a card on you, or some 5s and 1s, as they don’t carry cash on location.

Unfortunately I have to rate the new food menu a 3 because the online ordering menu is not user friendly and you don’t have an option to select which bread for your sandwich. Breakfast sandwich I ordered yesterday was delish but very little chipotle. No other dressing like mayo etc so your sandwich comes dry if the dressing isn’t coating the bun. I ordered the spicy turkey sandwich today that’s $12.95 with chips. Unfortunately they were out of chips. And the sandwich had a lot more chipotle to make it a lil wet and there was no arugula in my sandwich. Not sure if I’ll try the turkey pesto but I do love their coffee if I run out at work. The space is nice and I love the outdoor seating options on the side.

I’ve been coming to The West Bean Coffee Roasters since 2015/2016 when I worked in Downtown SD and the menu only consisted of 5 drinks. Now, I’m happy to see they have more locations and an upgraded menu with more food items! The staff remember you if you’re a regular, the customer service is accommodating and excellent, and the cafe itself is very aesthetically pleasing (the free wifi is great too for study sessions). It’s hard for me to get coffee anywhere else because I’m used to how good the quality of the coffee is here. I’m a bit spoiled now because The West Bean Coffee Roasters has amped up my standards- that’s how good the coffee is. The syrups are made in-house which really heightens the flavor profile of every drink infused with it. I always get an Iced Vanilla Latte - it’s basic I know but trust me, it’s the best one I’ve ever had.

I wish this location had extended hours, since it’s so close to USD and UCSD, which would really help any students who’d want to support local coffee establishments while getting some studying done. I also think they could have more vegan/dairy free food options.

Overall, if you’re a coffee connoisseur or love a good latte, The West Bean Coffee Roasters has the best quality, freshest brew, and tastiest drink you’ll find...

First time here. Ordered a coffee and sandwich at the counter (they were both good, by the way), came to $18, when paying it asked for a tip, I did not tip as I was ordering and picking up at the counter, and also hadn't tried anything yet OR experienced any type of "service". There was also a tip JAR in my face with cash in it that I can always go back to and put cash in... Immediately the girl at the register literally looked disgusted and spun away lol (so dramatic) and became full on snarky and was unfriendly the entire time I was waiting (ruining my desire to leave a cash tip before leaving). I'm sorry. Maybe she needs to know the REASON for a tip.. it's not an entitlement. Because of this I won't go back. Do the employees not get paid properly? For the cost of the food and then to expect a guilt tip on top of this, when ordering and picking up at a counter is just ridiculous. Just because the software CAN ask for tips, doesn't mean you have to use it. Or maybe just have a conversation with your staff that tips are not something they are entitled to for simply...
