Motel San Diego — Hotel in San Diego

If it were possible I would give this place negative 5 stars. I drove into the driveway to a run down exterior and was immediately sceptical. Since I had a reservation that I had booked earlier that morning I decided to go in and check it out. I walked into an office the size of a large closetonly to see nobody there. Through the door was a dirty run kitchen down that was desperate for a cleaning. The clerk came out and checked me in without an ounce of friendliness. I walked down to the room and opened the door. The room smelled like the had just poorer a gallon of bleach on the floor. I had reserved a room that said it came with 2 queen bed, one was actually a double and the queen was on a broken frame. The curtains on the window were completely transparent. The "kitchen" was simply just a mini fridge placed next to one of the beds like a night stand. Then I tried to turn on the TV only to find the direct tv box they connected to it wasn't even activated. After checking round the main room I moved on the bathroom. The toilet was running and the entire room looked horrible. The "shower" looked as though they removed the door from a dark closet slapped on a bad tile job and ran some plumbing into it. Once I thought it couldn't get any worse the power completely went out in the room not 10 minutes after arriving. I immediately went back to the office and asked for a refund so I could go somewhere that was actually suitable for human beings only to have the girl at the front desk say they do not give refunds. Only after arguing with her and pointing out everything I listed above did she go to the back and talk the manager who reluctantly approved the refund. I am not a picky or uptight by any means and I understand that you get what you pay for, but this place is about half a step away from being condemned and nowhere close to worth what they are charging. I went into this knowing to have lower expectations. I've stayed in 5 star resorts that were trash and 1 star "roach" motels that were amazing.

This place has great potential. Carlos at the desk is amazingly helpful and tried for hours to get wifi/internet service to the room. The building is older and the walls have a great effect on the signal strength.

Previous reviews make this place seem unsafe and while I can see how a person could think that, at no time did I feel unsafe. That said, the window didn't lock and the door is missing a deadbolt. It seems the owners/management are trying hard to change the old ways of this place.

TV stations are minimal 9 I counted, but with my cell service I just watched shows online anyway, not a deal breaker.

The biggest issue here are the ants and drain flies. This makes sense as when I got to room 20 the sink was clogged. Carlos fixed this immediately! Which was impressive and no further issues came from it.

Bed was clean and I took the sheets off to check for issues: none found. The towels did have some stains on them, but smelled fresh, so I was okay with that.

Shower water pressure was great and the water got hot!

Overall this place has great potential it was quiet at night with exception of a few people with loud cars on the nearby highway. Would I stay again? In a pinch, absolutely it was a decent enough place to sleep. Again the fact this place had a mini fridge and microwave means it was better than ceasers palace in Las Vegas! My car also wasn't broken into here, unlike ceasers palace. See the issues here? 5 star hotel you expect 5 star service, 1 star you expect less. To be fair I have also lived overseas and seen worse for far more!

While this place looks bad, it is certainly nowhere near as bad as the older reviews set...

First I'll say this is the only hotel I have stayed at in the pat ten years I have gone out of my way to post warnings for people to stay clear of. This place as others have stated is absolutely horrible. We originally reserved the room for 2 nights, the place is so gross we only stayed for 1 and ate the cost of the second and went to another hotel... I'll list the Pros/Cons||Cons: rooms are dirty, tiny bathrooms, dirty sheets (blood stains and/or feces), doors that have been busted in, plastic over broken windows, heaters and AC units do not work, smoke detectors ripped from ceiling, drug addicts and dealers in the parking lot, prostitutes were working out of the room next to ours all night (you could hear everything!!!) I had serious concerns about my truck or the room being being broken into. rude staff, animal hair all over and smells like dog urine.||Pros: Cheap, free AIDs or Herpes with stay(blood stains)...who in the world knows what gross disease might be contracted from that place ...or bedbugs ...NASTY!!!||I spent many years in the military and I'm used to sleeping in pretty unfavorable conditions, however I would NEVER bring a female (my wife) or kids to this dump and would much rather sleep in the latrine at Walmart. ||PLEASE DO YOURSELF AND FAMILY A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY, THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED AND SHOULD BE CRAWLING WITH COPS DO TO ALL THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITY...
