Cali Banh Mi — Restaurant in San Diego

Not god, but I ate it because I was hungry. I'm amazed this place has any great reviews. I recently tried this place for the second time and was reminded how unimpressed i was the first time, but I think it has become worse over the last couple of years. It's definitely not authentic Vietnamese, more like some attempt at a fusion of some sort. The bread for the banh mi was not great. A good baguette is a huge factor in a banh mi, and this one was third rate. I looked around as I waited for my food to be prepared, and I notice everything around me was sort of dirty. The glass, the kick plate at the bottom of the door, and many other items were dirty. There was a thick layer of dust on the security camera. My guess is that dirty front of house means even more dirty back of house. I definitely will not...

Very Americanized Bahn Mi, but they were done very well. They really paid good attention to the bread, which makes or breaks a good Bahn Mi. The sandwiches are large for the price, lots of sides to choose from in racks out front and interesting bakery items for dessert. They are fast and accurate and offer some really interesting choices. We got our jalapenos on the side as I don't like them and my husband does and they got it perfect.

The very traditional roast meats and pate sandwich has the good funk of fresh pate, and all the crunch of fresh carrot and daikon pickle. The bread was perfectly toasted. The lady at the counter was super friendly.

With all the windows up front it could be very hot in the summer, but it was pleasantly toasty...

Great fresh food with servings that you will not walk away hungry. My wife and I took my siblings, neice and a nephew there for dinner. After eating there once before, while staying at Campland on the Bay. They were all were quite satisfied , even my sister who eats gluten-free only. Out of the 9 not one complaint. We had tried the bowls, sandwich, two bbq pork fries which we all shared , soup and spring rolls. All were yummy and great prices! Most prices under$15 and under. I do not recall any being over $20.
