UPDATE 2023
3.5 REMODELED PANCAKE HOUSE AND YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT
Claim to fame are the huge omelettes which easily feed two to three people and definitely leftovers. Seriously, unless you're a bodybuilder, it's kind of hard to eat one omelette in one sitting. The omelets are baked and take upwards of 20 minutes.
The restaurant has improved with the modern color trend of banana yellow and teal. Accented with white and easily disinfected hard steel black chairs. After all the goal is turnover. Not sit and enjoy your meal for hours.
Though the prices have escalated, with an average cost of $18.00 per person, the $7.00 oatmeal seems disproportionately high. The place is consistently bustling. For early risers opening begins at 7:00 AM and wraps up operations early around 2 PM or 3 PM depending on the day.
BEST MONEY SAVING OPTION Personally, I find satisfaction in their half-order pecan pancakes. All items can be half-order except omelettes. It's noteworthy that microwaves are conspicuously absent from their kitchen setup.
Now gluten-free pancakes are available. And if ordering the French toast ask for well done.
HIGH FIVES Parking Coffee is always topped-off Excellent service Familiar staff for year's Omelettes and meat meals come with three buttermilk pancakes
THUMBS DOWN Bathrooms. This really should have updated Prices. For a better atmosphere, you can eat at a hotel or go to a brunch.
NEED TO KNOW No sodas on the menu Wait times are shorter than 20 minutes, usually before 9:30 AM Entire party must be present before sitting down. Please honor this as others could already be seated
"Love is such an arbitrary thing. I love my mom. I love pancakes.” ~ Doug Stanhope
Breakfast only restaurant that closes at 3 p.m. One dish and portion sizes are enough for two. Even though pancakes, waffles and egg dishes have evolved, OPH maintains its tradition with the luxury of breakfast only. Always a wait up to 15 minutes. A restaurant experience to eat and go. BTW no microwaves and no fountain drinks. Four stars because responsive staff, food preparation and recipes are reliable for more than a decade, and longevity of same...
Read moreSince Google asked me to review my experience at The Original Pancake House on convoy, here I go. I had dropped my car off nearby for new tires and decided to treat myself to breakfast. I want to be clear that the staff was attentive and deserves kudos for their part in my experience. What I will touch on are the resulting food and the cost.
I decided to order their mushroom omelette, which came with a three small pancakes and no other sides, no meat, no potatoes. That was fine. I asked to have Swiss cheese as my choice, and was informed that “yes, but cheese is extra,” to which I agreed. As the server left I pondered as to whether it was truly an omelette without cheese, and why that would be extra, but I quickly rolled with it. After a while my plates arrived…the mushroom omelette with my requested Swiss cheese, and the side plate of small pancakes. The flavor can be described as bland, at best, but I was hungry, and it tasted like an omelette. Anyhow, when I asked for my bill and reviewed the cost, with the $1.85 added charge for my Swiss cheese, the mushroom omelette and included pancakes (I had only water to drink), my bill came to $23.91, and because I refuse to shortchange a tip when service was adequate, there was another $4.50 to total $28.41 for one modest breakfast of mediocre quality.
I guess the message I want to extol is “Buyer beware…be confident in how much it means to you to have breakfast out. I am no cheapskate, and appreciate the experience of dining out, but if breakfast is going to push $30 for one person, it had better be incredible at every turn, and and while a Google search on whether an omelette has cheese as a rule (the answer is mixed), it seems to me that to make it an add on for an already-pricy menu item is absurd real grab to increase the bottom line. And yes, I acknowledge that we want workers to be paid a living wage, and this is not about arguing this point. This review is simply a way for those hunting for breakfast to determine quality and value for their dining dollars. A meal out should make your...
Read moreNot A Critic Just A Customer!!!! Triple Thumbs Up!!!!!!!!! The Original Pancake House, I visited this restaurant for breakfast on a Thursday around 10 a.m. It wasnt busy, there wasn't a wait to be seated, nice homey atmosphere with pleasant smiles and hellos, we were quickly seated however we were anxious by time our meal got to us, well let me just say it was well worth the wait! There four us dining two ordered omelets, one ordered alacart items, I ordered the beef hash with potatoes and eggs....yum yum yum! One of the best breakfasts I had and prices are minimum not bad at all. The menu (I forgot to get a picture of, sorry) has so many items to chose from and has a HUGE section just for pancakes! Pancakes galore! Lots of different flavors, we had the original and the blueberry, initially I didn't want pancakes but after tasting both the original and blueberry I couldn't stop eating them. Their pancakes are so devine! You know when you go to some restaurants and the menu says Blueberry pancakes and the pancakes doesn't have one single blueberry in it or just contains a flavoring? These blueberry pancakes were true blueberries inside n out out and taste absolutely Fabulous!!!! They were everything!!!!! Usually I would just write a simple review but restaurant deserves a little more because the focus is on the authenticity of the food and I can tell they take a lot pride in the food and its ingredients so from the hostess to the cooks, hats off to you !! This location is visible from the street and is nestled at the entrance of small shopping plaza with accessible parking as well, If you have the chance stop by I'm sure you won't be disappointed, I can't wait til my next encounter.,...
