I only leave reviews on Yelp or Google if a restaurant is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad- this was awful specifically because of the server we had. Never got her name because she couldn’t care less about our table. If the owner is reading this review- you have my name, I paid with my card if you want to see who was serving us tonight. We came in today (1/19) at around 8pm if you want to retrain your server. She might as well have thrown our cups and plates on the table with the amount of attitude she had. I asked for chopsticks because there was only one on the table and she looks at my friend’s empty wrapper and goes “there’s another one right there” in the most condescending tone. When she comes back to take our orders, she’s annoyed I’m asking for the market price of their uni dishes. When I ask the price of a different dish, she interrupts me before I can finish my question and says “it’s the same as the other one”. When I clarify and finish my question, surprise surprise, the price isn’t the same. She couldn’t wait 3 seconds for me to finish asking? When she brings my udon out, it comes in a small earthenware pot that’s on top of a wood tray. She places the tray on the edge of the table as far away from me as possible. I know it’s hot and I would never want anyone to endanger themselves to center a dish as close to me as possible- but this was deliberately placed as far from me as possible. It was our first and last time visiting this place. I literally barely leave reviews because I don’t want to spend the time to do so- I am so disgusted to the point it has forced me to leave this review. Good job ruining someone’s night- wish I...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience here at Wa Dining Okan. Luckily, we got there right when they opened, so all their tables were open; mind you, the place is quite small and has about 3 four person tables and 2-3 two person tables, alongside their bar which fits around 15.
The food was superb, they did a fantastic job at making our time here enjoyable and refreshing. We tried different meal choices we haven't had before and instead of being typical flavors you've had elsewhere, they really did come with new tastes. The food being cooked perfectly and their menu having a good variety made us feel welcomed to eat at a restaurant of a different nationality. They also didn't have any issues with explanations or understanding of our questions, which was great.
The waitresses were quick to serve and were professional. I noticed how often they checked in on their customers without being obnoxious. Always seemed to come at the right time.
The price was about what I expected going in (above average), so if you plan on eating cheap, just get one of their regular entree meals. That being said, $80 (tip included) was great to see for how much we ordered, making it well worth it.
One of my only cons, which isn't their fault, is that the building since being small, only has one restroom. Keep this in mind if you are someone that needs to use it often, so you can go next door without feeling awkward.
Overall, I had a terrific experience and would recommend this place to anyone looking for Japanese food that...
Read morePretty good Japanese restaurant that has a great lunch bento box special. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but with decent food, lots of parking, and good service, it's a pretty cool local spot.
I ordered the salt-grilled salmon lunch special that came with rice, miso soup, and 3 side dishes (you don't order these, it's a seaweed salad, and some pickled vegetables). The salt-grilled salmon was very good; tasted fresh, great flavor, I enjoyed every bite. The miso soup and the 3 side dishes were just okay, nothing special.
Service was attentive without being overbearing. It's a small, cozy restaurant with bar and table seating. They were playing top 40 in the background.
Not a bad place to grab a quick bite if you have the urge for Japanese food. Decent food, decent prices, good service, lots of parking, means a lot less headache trying to get here. Great for lunch/dinner with friends or a date. Didn't have to wait for a lunch...
