What a horrible experience!
Too bad because I used to Come in here all of the time...
The owner / manager was absolutely shameless, unembarrassed & unethical.
Cleanliness is questionable: The server smelled SO bad of body odor it was repulsive. I am horrified to think of what the kitchen is like.
We were drinking water from a carafe. When we got toward the bottom muck & small Flies fell out of the carafe and into our water glasses. The carafe was clearly dirty when filled with water. We could not see it before that due to condensation on the glasses.
The owner said nothing- took it away and brought us Ice cream. Ridiculous!
It took over 40 minutes to start getting food that was ordered and they served the rice last- far after the main dishes that are customarily eaten with rice or nan.
We were getting ready to Leave & food started to arrive...
It was NOT crowded.
In the end The owner / manager brought our check and said here's your bill. Let me know if you'd like me to take anything off of it.
That is one of the tackiest things I've ever seen in the way that he approached us. The entire experience was unconscionable and professional and unethical. Shameful. No integrity at all.
I got a bottled water to wash down what was left after the chunky water, and he charged us for it
He should've made accommodations to the check and not left it up to us to ask for a discount.
There is absolutely no sign of shame regret embarrassment whatsoever for the horrific experience that we had in there. We ordered enough food to take home leftovers and we didn't even have it packaged up and take it home.
I am a business owner. I would be absolutely embarrassing. Horrified, if any customer ever dealt with anything like we were dealing with their.
Sad enough the other 2 tables were experiencing the same thing.
I am a neighbor and walk by this restaurant daily.
I will NEVER go back. EVER!
He could have made it better or right at any time and he did not.
No apology- just dropped off a small bowl of ice cream.
We were super patient fir 45 minutes...
My date even left a...
Read moreMy daughter and I went in for lunch today. This was our fourth visit, I've definitely had better Indian food (the naan is actually delicious), but it is a convenient location, and my daughter likes it.
As usual, the place was dead when we arrived just after 11am. I attempted to sit at our usual four-top table, but was told that we had to sit at a two-top. I explained that my daughter, who is only three, does better if she can sit next to me on one of the bench seats. The waiter insisted that we must sit at a two-top. Why? There are literally three other people in the restaurant, further I've never seen it busy.
He finally acquiesced by turning a two-top sideways, but to what aim?! So that we can sit at a cramped table too small us?? We easily could have sat the the four-top immediately next to us. By the time we left, there had only been five patrons in the restaurant. I definitely think fighting someone about what sized table they should sit makes sense.
On a lesser note, they didn't refill my diet coke. My three year old commented that they needed to refill it, but apparently she has a better grasp of customer service than anyone at the Clay Oven.
Between this strange encounter, and the consistently poor service, we...
Read moreDecided to order from here for the first time, delivery. Food arrived on time but wasn't exactly what I had expected. Sure it was flavorful, but when I've ordered biryani from other places, it generally had more than just rice, seasoning and the protein. This calamari biryani had nothing but the seasoned rice, a few almond slivers, and sixish calamari rings. I had also ordered the mushroom mattar, but when it arrived, all I got was a container full of sauce, three-ish scoops of peas and a few blocks of very firm tofu. The calamari curry was just a handful of calamari rings in a very soupy/watery sauce. The chicken korma was similarly devoid of anything but the protein and the very soupy sauce. In fact, when I first set the three containers, the mattar, korma, and curry next to each other, all drowning in sauce, the only way I could tell the difference between them were the proteins and peas. I've never had indian food so devoid of any other ingredients before and it was definitely surprising. Although the food was okay, I probably won't be ordering from here...
