I came here to get a ring repaired as one of the stones fell out. They took a look and said that the stone fell out because the prongs on the ring are damaged, so they repaired the ring and quoted me a fair price. Unfortunately, when I picked the ring up the prongs around that particular stone looked very messy compared to the others and it looked like a sloppy job. Additionally, the stone that they repaired fell out less than 1 hour after I picked it up (picture attached)... I called the next morning to let them know and they offered for me to come in again so they can take a look and potentially redo it. I was pretty unhappy with how the repair was done the first time so I did not want them to attempt to redo it and ruin the prongs even more, so they offered me a refund. I would rate the quality of the work a 1 star but their customer service brought this review up to 3 stars since everyone working there is very nice and this process was handled very professionally. In the end, I think this place would be better for more simple repairs at reasonable prices but if you're looking to have detailed work done then you should probably look elsewhere.

UPDATE: changing this review to a 1 star as I took the ring to another jeweler to get it repaired and it's now going to cost me 3x the amount since they need to fix the mistakes made by West Portal Jewelers. I’ve had multiple wonderful experiences at this business. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and they never try to rip you off! The first time I went in I needed help getting a couple charms on a necklace. They did it in minutes and didn’t charge me a thing! I most recently went in to get some earrings reset due to a reaction I was having when wearing them. They walked me through a variety of options and recommend I give them a really good cleaning and come back in two weeks if the earrings still hurt. The owner cleaned them up for me and sent me on my way without charging anything again! Just goes to show how lovely they treat their clientele. Took my Baume Mercier to Bock for new battery. They told me they could not do it for lacking the equipment to open the back and recommended that I go to a repair shop on Post St. At the Post St shop, they informed me that the back, the crown and the gasket inside had been damaged. There were scratch marks indicating attempt (s) to open the back. Their verdict was that the watch, even repaired, will NOT be waterproof.any more. I have not worn the watch for months because I have many others. From my simple deduction, I have to assume that the damage was done by Bock. For that reason, I will never go there again though I have gotten batteries many times previously. I am highly suspicious that they tried to forcibly open without the proper equipment.
