El Chato — Restaurant in San Francisco

This hip, unpretentious Spanish wine bar is a welcome addition to the neighborhood as it serves up affordable natural wines and pintxos (small bar snacks) in an open and breezy setting. It can get a little loud at times so go early or grab a window seat if you want a more chill setting—that said, I have a feeling this place is going to be super popular once the word gets out because the decor and crowd is effortlessly cool. It’s purposely casual, so grab a seat and order at the counter. Everything was super tasty and the gazpacho, tortilla, and Blau Cru from Penedès were our favorites. please stop giving this place 5 star reviews you all look so ignorant complementing this food, if you all realized that your being served over priced butchered spanish dishes that have no real resemblance to the traditional ones and allowing yourself to believe your getting a authentic spanish dining experience is embarrassing and insulting to the cuisine and way of life, this is the equivalent of putting ice in a french mans wine or putting ranch on a authentic Italian pizza it's like serving a Japanese person safeway sushi and telling them that's the way it's suppose to be prepared. You took a rich cultures food, you took the magic out of it made it cheaper, fast food like, and the did not stick to the core values that bring this food to life, congrats you managed to take something beautiful Americanized it and capitalized off...

I've enjoyed both visits to El Chato very much! The ambiance is so fun, the wine selection is incredible and the music is great. I enjoyed the cocktail with Mommenpop Ruby Grapefruit! So much so, I took a bottle home with me. I also took a Spanish red wine (NATURALEZA SALVAJE CLARETE, AZUL Y GARANZA) with me that I loved.
