This was our first time coming here, but it will not our last. We stopped in, unexpectedly, on our way to the San Francisco Zoo. Our attention was grabbed by their enticing sandwich board. They have an amazing selection of sandwiches and hamburgers, all made fresh and with love. And, at a great price too! Mona took care of us at the register, and was so genuinely interested in who we were and what we were doing and took every measure to make sure that we were happy. We sat outside the store for a few minutes, and she came out to shoot the breeze for a little while. She kept telling us what great people we were, but it was really Mona who is the great person. Our kids really loved her, and so did we. A few of the neighborhood locals popped in to say hi to Mona, and it was clear that she was considered by many of them to be family. We will definitely be...

George ' s Zoo is one of those "neighborhood joints" , patronized by locals and tourists alike. Service is friendly regardless of whether you're from around the corner or Poughkeepsie N.Y. The coffee is good and reasonably priced, the food is good and well worth the price. There's breakfast fare to lunch sandwiches suitable for picnics at the zoo or the Sunday free concerts at Stern Grove nearby. The selection of libations covers the gamut from milk to soft drinks to alcoholic drinks up to a few French estate wines. If you go by, say hello to Phil (big guy with the ball cap) or his mom; who sometimes helps out behind the counter. Conversation is always free...

Lived in the area my whole life and never even heard about this place, with good reviews too? I had to check it out. I got 2 sandwiches so I didn’t have to make two trips. I never been there before so I was just getting everything they had in the store! The sandwiches were good, 1 pastrami & 1 chicken. I liked the chicken one better. It was good for how hungry I was, but I wasn’t as amazed as I thought they would be. Well the first one (pastrami) wasn’t anything special, but the second one (chicken) was pretty bomb, so I’d go back for that one. They just got a lot of stuff there since it’s a liquor store, it’s a cool place. Right...

My wife and I were cruising around the city and we were looking for a great sandwich shop just like the ones I used to get when I lived in the city back in the eighties. We googled and found this place. Sandwiches are fantastic in my opinion but everyone has different taste. I would highly recommend this place next time you’re in the area if you want a great sandwich.

This place is a neighborhood staple in the Sunset. It’s the type of place where they know all the regulars and welcome all the newbies. The staff is super friendly! The place has solid sandwiches, a good chip selection, a variety of drink options and some good ole’ piroshkis. Can’t go wrong!!

I was surprised to find that this place has been here for 40 years and small wonder eswhy because the sandwiches are great and the prices were very reasonable. I paid $10.99 for a roast beef on a Dutch Crunch roll which is about the same price as a mundane Big Mac and ten times better.
