Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon wasnt too busy servers were nice and attentive with one exception which ill detail in a bit. Not a whole lot of seating room but decor is amazing with beautiful wall paintings and murals covering all the empty spots.
I looked at the menu and an asian young lady came and took our orders, she wasnt paying attention. I told her i wanted a shawarma platter but told her that I was wondering if they can do half meat half chicken since it was my first visit and there wasnt an option on the menu that had half and half and id like to try both. She looked at me puzzled and said half half? I said yes.. if its possible she said sure and left.
When my order came i was surprised to find that there was only meat no chicken. I then asked her why its not half half she didnt hear me and left.. a gentlemen saw me trying to beckon her and came over. He then explained to me i got half rice half hummus and that they dont do halfs on meat i expressed my frustration and he kindly brought me a side plate of chicken free of charge!! Thats customer service and i appreciate him for it.
As for the food im middle eastern and have had plenty shawarma in alot of places including the middle east. Beef was 3/5 for me spices were off and it was dry. Chicken was 5/5 amazing turmeric flavor which was new to me in shawarma but welcome. Hummus 5/5 they got it down creamy and amazing. Falafel 2/5 meh... oasis does it so much better. Eknafe 4/5 taste on point texture was just bad.. soggy no crisp.
Overall i would visit again i think oasis has better food in my opinion but this joint is definitely more...

My husband and I were visiting SF for a business trip, and we were very disappointed with how busy, overpopulated, and polluted SF. We just wanted our trip to end as fast as possible to leave the area. Also, I was super surprised how hot it was in SF.
Old Jerusalem Restaurant, made us really forget about all of that for just a few hours and enjoy some quality time together. The restaurant have a back seating area that's more open, quite, clean and nice. But since I am super sensitive to the heat, we had to set inside which also was very cozy and comfortable. I was able to enjoy the painting and had beautiful conversation with Judy and the people behind the cashier.
Please try their Falafel, God, it was super yummy!
I would never willingly want to visit SF, but if it happens for whatever reason, I would absolutely visit them again.
Thank you Judy for being nice and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had dinner here tonight. It was very good. Old Jerusalem is a small restaurant on Mission. It has a cozy interior, and it was really warm inside on this cold rainy day. Maybe a little too warm (I run hot, so I was really warm, but I heard someone at the table next to me comment about how hot he was).
We ordered: Stuffed Falafel: AMAZING (one of the best falafels I have ever had) Shish Taouk (grilled chicken skewers, onion, pepper, rice and hummus): AMAZING (will definitely order again) Shawerma: Meh. Dry, dry, dry. Wouldn't order again. Mint tea: Delish.
The service was very friendly. Food was very good. Price is very reasonable. Dinner came with pita, pickled veg and olives, two sauces (a spicy red onion chutney, and an herb tahini sauce).
I'd definitely come back for the Stuffed Falafel and the Shish Taouk. Would also love to try the Mousakhan and the Combination Plate (to try the shish kebab and kifta kebab). I think in the future we might share an app and one of the large plates.
We'll be back!
Pro-tip: they don't do delivery, but lots of people order...
