As I was walking to the now closed Wild Pepper Chinese restaurant, my favorite in the area, I happened by this strip of park, between Guerrero to San Jose and 25th and 26th sts. Seemingly friendly people and dog walkers and even a tortoise walker. Chatty and mostly helpful people from the hood but most didn't know what happened to Wild Pepper a half block away. What a shame, as it's a little oasis of greenness in the hub bub of jungle madness in every other direction. Swings for the kids and kids at heart. Read morePhenomenal little park converted from an old rail right-of-way (obvious from the rails embedded in the path).
This park is only a few feet wide. You could walk past it without noticing it if you weren't paying attention. However, it's more than a block long because it's diagonal. Within it, there are benches, a nature exploration area, a mural of a train, a garden with some beautiful flowers, workout bars, and a very small playground with two little slides, two toddler swings, and some monkey bars.
