My wife and I had lunch here Saturday afternoon, and it was one of the best all around meals we've had lately. I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while ever since reading about it and the owner in the SF Chronicle. On every dimension, my expectations were exceeded.

The food was delicious. We shared a shrimp po'boy, a pork shoulder sandwich, and we added on a couple of pieces of fried chicken because everything else was so good. The shrimp was very tasty with a light breading that complemented and enhanced the shrimp. The remoulade sauce was excellent - it's impossible to make a great po'boy if you don't nail the remoulade - and they nail the remoulade. In fact, the fries are some of the best I've had because the potatoes are fresh, wonderfully seasoned, and they're perfect for dipping in the remoulade. The dutch crunch roll was a nice innovation, and it worked great.

The pork shoulder sandwich, was also outstanding. The pork was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Absolutely delicious.

And, the fried chicken just kept the streak going. I'm looking forward to coming back for the 10 piece bucket. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, as well.

Every dish was excellent. You could see and taste the kitchen's love for cajun cuisine, as well as its ability to innovate and add its own touch in important ways.

The service and atmosphere were spot on. We were treated like we were in the staff's home, and being well taken care of. It turns out, the primary person with whom we were interacting was the restaurant owner, Metis. When we asked for a little more background on the restaurant he gave us a brief history. Though the telling you could feel the care for the food, the staff, and the customers.

Highly recommend...

We were in the area and decided to try something different than what we typically do for lunch. Got here around 12:30 PM and were seated right away. It was a very nice day out so we decided to sit outside in the shade. There were a couple of tables outside (mainly 2 people tables but they did make a 6 people table for a bigger party). There were a few bar seating inside and some additional seating inside as well.

We ordered the fried Okra, the jambalaya with chicken and andouille sausage and fried chicken combo. For drinks, we got swamp water ice tea and the Abita lager. I have never eaten Okra before so not sure how this compares to others but their fried Okra was great! It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The way that I would describe the soft Okra texture is kind of like eating a fried pepper without the spice since there were seeds in it. The jambalaya was very flavorful and generously portioned. The chicken was slightly over cooked for my taste but the dish overall is still great. My husband’s fried chicken combo was great. The chicken was flavorful and crunchy. The collard greens was also flavorful and not just plain. The mash potatoes were great! You can tell there is quite a bit of butter in it, which is how I love my mashed potatoes. The swamp water ice tea was very good and refreshing! It came with a variety of fruits (strawberry blueberry and sliced oranges). It also was not overly sweet at all. Service was great! The waiter and waitress came to check on us a...

We picked up food to go today and their kitchen did not dissapoint! The chicken was deliciously seasoned and crispy. You have options for their combo to choose from too so I opted for the mini cornbreads which were yummy! The gumbo was so flavorful. We also got a Po' Boy Chicken Sandwich which was so good. Last but not least, we ordered some Beignets and they were yummy! Each one was crispy on the outside with a soft warm center and coated with powdered sugar on the top. These come in a set of 4 per order and paired very well with the warm chocolate sauce they provided on the side. Our waitress also checked with us if we needed utensils for our to-go order. Really wish we could have stayed to enjoy the food there as the atmosphere and location was nice. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the place is small, so big parties may want to call ahead to ensure a table. We are definitely going back one of these days to try the pasta, jumbalaya, or the fish and chips!! Thank you to the staff for such...

Poboys Kitchen totally hit the spot! We ordered the chicken po’ boy and shrimp po’ boy, and both were loaded with flavor and seriously satisfying. The bread had that perfect crispy-chewy texture, and the fillings were super generous—crispy chicken with just the right amount of kick, and shrimp that were plump and well-seasoned. The sandwiches came with seasoned fries and a side of creamy, smoky dipping sauce that we couldn’t get enough of. And we couldn’t resist finishing things off with the beignets—they came out warm, fluffy, and covered in a snowy layer of powdered sugar. Classic and delicious. The service was also super attentive and friendly - helping us understand the best bread pairing based on type of meat The outdoor seating had a fun, colorful vibe that made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re in the mood for bold flavors and a chill atmosphere!
