Soo Fong — Restaurant in San Francisco

Bad service, worse food. I saw all of the good reviews and was excited. I went in and was immediately underwhelmed. The restaurant felt rushed despite that it was relatively empty. Nobody ever greeted me or said hello. I had no idea if i needed to order at the counter or sit down at a table. I went to the counter and placed my order which was the orange chicken lunch special. After i placed my order I sat down. The exact same waitress comes up to me a few minutes later and had to ask me what i ordered. I told her it was the orange chicken with fried rice. She goes and checks and comes back to me they had put down white rice. I said it was fine. When i finally got my order I noticed i was missing my egg roll and soup. I should have said something but I decided to leave because i was in a hurry and a little frustrated. I took my lunch to my work 3 blocks away and started to dig in. There was just something really off about it. The chicken was super dry except for the bottom which was soaking in a very wet orange chicken sauce. I guess whoever spooned it in covered the entire plate because a lot of the sauce was sitting in the bottom of my rice. The sauce itself was weird because of how wet it was, and the off putting flavor. Usually I like it when the broccoli soaks up the chicken sauce but This time was pretty rough. I wasn't going to write a review but after my food turned out to be awful I couldn't let other people be fooled by the positive reviews. First time to go here since we’ve been in the neighborhood for 20 years. Our Sunset Chinese restaurant since the 80’s is not the same taste anymore, and their hours changed since the pandemic. So we decided to try one in our neck of the woods, and I’m glad we did. We had the Beef Chow Fun, Chicken Chow Mein, Shrimp Curry Fried Rice, Hong Kong Style Crispy Noodles, they put the sauce separately so it’ll be crispy when we get home. The only thing that we weren’t used to, was the Fried Tofu Vegetables, which the veggies not as Farmers Market fresh as we’re used to. All in all, I agree to the 4.2 Stars given. I eat in , order pick up, or take out. Walk ins are fast delicious served steaming hot. Dinining in is always the best experience their service by the young ladies is always pleasant. No interruptions while enjoying meal. Quick response when asking for anything extra. Meal and pricing right for my budget close by. I ordered 30 minutes before closing without a problem for pickup.
