As much as I love this brand, this location needs some serious customer Improvement I unfortunately just had a ridiculous and embarrassing encounter with a female employee that goes by the name of D.
A simple request for the bathroom code prior to ordering my food was met with this response:
" you have to place your order before we give out the bathroom code, but I'm going to be nice and give it to you this time but please understand we have a policy."
No good afternoon? No Welcome to Starbucks? Not a proper greeting or salutation instead.....I was met with a defensive and unprofessional disposition that is unlike any other Starbucks experience that I've ever had! Ever!
I assumed she was having a bad day so I waited patiently for her to finish her statement before asking her to repeat herself. Which she so graciously did.
I apologize to her and told her that I will instead order my food first and I placed the bathroom code back onto the counter and declined to use the facilities. D proceeded to rant on about the conditions of the neighborhood and why they have this policy in the first place, and I was just confused. All I wanted to do was order my drink, my everything croissant, and use the bathroom. This entire ordeal was unnecessary. I am in a suit and a tie. I am a patron, paying with the Starbucks app, and I'm being treated as if I pushed my shopping cart full of trash and recyclables into the restaurant to do drugs in the bathroom. Regardless of my Approach no person deserves to be treated with this level of service.
After taking my order, D begin to openly address the restaurant in a loud audible tone while toasting my croissant, stating "maybe you're having a bad day, you should get over yourself, and accusing me of being the one with the problem.
I'm just standing there waiting patiently for my food to finish and now I'm being verbally assaulted by D
Her two male coworkers standing immediately behind the counter were in shock just standing there watching her lose control. One of them took over and finished my drink and apologized for this experience. D came out into the lobby and was continuing to complain while cleaning. At this point her hostility was clear and her combative demeanor was a clear attempt to escalate the situation.
At that point I didn't feel safe, and I quickly grabbed my drink thanked the Barista for his attention, confirmed the manager's name, and left immediately.
I come to this establishment every Sunday as a meeting point to pick up my kids. I have seen D every Sunday for the last 2 months. This Sunday was no different I'm just glad that my kids have not arrived yet to witness their father being disrespected and yelled at by an overwhelmed and under-qualified employee.
I'm an advocate for this location, the Bayview District needs businesses like Starbucks as part of its revitalization. Its employees like D that make our...
Read moreToday I experienced what can only be described as a complete breakdown in customer service at your Starbucks. With four employees visible in the front area – two baristas and two cashiers – I stood at the register for a full five minutes, completely ignored. It wasn't until I audibly asked if someone could take my order that I received any attention. This level of blatant disregard for a customer is simply unacceptable. After reading other reviews, it's clear this isn't an isolated incident, and it points to a severe lack of training and accountability among your staff. To make matters worse, one of the baristas, noticing my obvious frustration, felt compelled to apologize for her coworkers' behavior. While her empathy was appreciated, it is not her responsibility to manage or excuse the substandard conduct of her colleagues. This indicates a deeper systemic issue within your team. I see that the owner frequently responds to reviews, and I sincerely hope you dedicate equal time and effort to correcting your employees' disappointing and substandard service. My visit today was a truly unpleasant and frustrating experience that falls far short of what one expects...
