Upsettingly bad experience — they got my order wrong and then blamed me for it.
I ordered my salad with no cheese (greek style, no olive oil), but was given a salad with cheese. I mentioned this to the person who brought my food out, and they took it back. I then checked my receipt and saw that the person I placed my order with hadn't added my request for no cheese.
A few moments later, the person I placed my order with came up to me, aggressively asked what was wrong with my order, and told me that I hadn't requested no cheese and had only requested no olive oil. It was weirdly confrontational and really uncomfortable. The correct order was soon brought to me, but I was really taken aback that he:
I was so shocked by this person's hostility that I apologized even though I knew I got my order right.
Probably taking it too personally but this was really upsetting and honestly ruined both my meal and night :(
I would recommend going to nearby RT Rotisserie instead (another fast casual with delicious, healthy, generous portions of salads, rice bowls, and sandwiches with a variety of meats, plus umami fries and soft serve! all at much better prices than Souvla, and with much friendlier service), which is where I'll be going from now on even though it's a bit...
Read moreSouvla is a nice Greek restaurant. The menu is small which is something I truly appreciate. I get turned off when I see menus that are pages long. I had the lamb sandwich and my friend had the chicken sandwich. We shared a side of garlic fries. The sandwiches were packed full of meat and tasted absolutely delicious. The fries came with a nice dipping sauce and were pretty good though I could do with some more potent garlic flavor.
I have rated this 3 stars mainly because of the seating area. We opted for outdoor seating because all indoor tables were occupied, but as we sat at the table we saw a tiny mouse scurry from under the table. This speaks volumes about the cleanliness of the place.
Additionally there is a tree directly above the seating area. Leaves, seeds, and small twigs kept falling from the tree somtimes into the food. It was very annoying. This could simply be avoided by having umbrellas or some sort of canopy over the seating area.
The falling leaves, seeds and twigs issue can honestly be overlooked, but the mouse is more concerning. I did notice that the table we sat at was not cleaned after the last group who dined there. We had to use napkins to clean it. More effort should be put into...
Read moreExcellent quick service restaurant on Divis. This is the second Soulva location in SF (first one was in Hayes Valley), with the same high quality, delicious, healthy menu as the first. All of the food is excellent here - there are chicken, lamb, pork, and vegetarian options here, all with their own set of vegetables/flavors, and all which can be ordered either as a greek-style wrap or as a big salad. A main wrap/salad will run you somewhere between $12-$15.
There is also a great set of sides - the fries and the juicy potatoes (roasted potatoes with chicken fat drippings) are both great.
Good drink selection - beer, wine, non-alcoholic - and also greek frozen yogurt with various toppings for desert.
Nice indoor seating space, and a nice terrace/garden in the back with more seating as well.
This is a staple for all locals in the area, and for good reason. If you are looking for something quick, reasonably priced, delicious, and (mostly) healthy, Souvla...
