Outstanding customer service. Never been here before. I called in to see if they had blended coffee drinks, akin to a Starbucks Frappuccino. The young lady I spoke with said they didn’t but that she’d be willing to make the drink for me. I showed up and not only did she try, but she seemed happy to do so. And to go above and beyond she offered to give me the left overs from the blender which was like another 8 ounces of drink, or to make me something else if I didn’t like it. That’s how to do business. Even though her attempt at the mocha Frappé didn’t hit my pallet the way I would have liked, I truly appreciated the gesture. As far as the atmosphere of the café, vibes were calm and casual. No music blaring in the background. Plus the art on the walls and the wooden furniture gave the café a warm and homey feel. Thank you young lady for your hospitality, I hope future customers receive the warm reception you showed me. All the best and cheers to your next local discovery.

Unhealthy Nasty Food. So tonight I got a hankering for French fries and rather than patron the Popeyes around the corner I decided to give patronage to may local small business. I ordered some french fries which I thought would come off as a pale shade of yellow like the others I saw on the table next to me. instead, they were this nasty shade of orange and obviously double or triple fried completely destroyed by grease and I was charged the privilege of nearly $3 more than the Popeyes. On top of that they use one of those point-of-sale terminals that only have tip requests for 15% and up. I don't know why I got this particularly ugly batch of french fries but I would say rather than risk it next time just go to the Popeyes and payless for a better quality piece of food. Delicious, reasonable pricing (for SF), peaceful, clean and cozy environment. They accommodated my dietary restrictions which shows a level of care rare to find in today’s world! They don’t make spinach salads, but custom made a spinach and orange vine grate side salad to go with my portobello sandwich, since I despise lettuce and spring mix. Additionally, I asked to sub bell peppers for cucumber and the cashier ran back to the kitchen to notify them! No extra charge for the substitutions, by the way. The service is phenomenal. To find a delicious sandwich AND side salad for $15 in a clean, cozy shop in a great location is incredible. We had a blast people watching and enjoying the city sounds and sites through the windows too :)

I used to go to this place regularly over 20 years ago with my then-young child for breakfast, as we lived nearby. We always enjoyed it. Fast forward to today, and as a nod to that tradition, my now-adult son and I still come here about once a month for breakfast. While I know the ownership has changed, we’ve continued to appreciate the memories.

Today was one of those visits. We ordered our usual breakfast, and my son also got a smoothie. We were sitting outside when, as I was setting the smoothie down, it accidentally tipped over, spilling about half of it onto the table. I asked my son to go inside and see if they could refill it.

A lady came over, saw the spill (I assume confirmed it hadn't been consumed), and said she would replace it. However, when she returned, she brought a smaller to-go cup with a much lighter-colored smoothie that looked very watery. The original one had been thick and rich — this was pale pink and runny.

I asked if this was the same smoothie we originally ordered ("Fruity Ruby") because it looked and tasted completely different. She said it was. I explained that it didn’t resemble what we were first served — I had seen the original being made. She just shrugged, clearly not interested in resolving the issue.

It felt like she took the remaining half of the original smoothie, diluted it with water, poured it into a smaller cup to make it appear full, and handed it back. That was disappointing and unprofessional.

Honestly, I would have understood if she had just said, “Sorry, since it was spilled, you'd need to pay for a replacement.” But to bring back a watered-down version and pretend it was freshly made felt dishonest. We left it there — maybe she can enjoy it herself.

Sure, we only come once a month and aren’t regulars, but what happened to basic professionalism and integrity? If this is how they handle a simple smoothie, it makes you wonder about everything else.

Unfortunately, I won’t...

Very friendly & nice staff! It's pretty busy, but they do well it's getting you your order quickly! It's pricey, but their burrito is really good, too! I got the al pastor, and I loved it! The burrito is pretty big, so it's worth the price, only a few bucks more than everybody else's burritos, and I think way better! The tacos are pretty good, too; and speaking of two, be sure to order two so you can get the happy hour price on beer, as ordering one doesn't cut it, for some reason. They've usually got a pretty good selection of beers on tap, for only three bucks (during happy hour, $4.50 otherwise) with food purchase (of anything, or two tacos). Indoor and outdoor seating are both available, but the outdoor seating is right on the sidewalk, and the sidewalks about 3 in wide! Luckily, Shared Spaces SF has just been made permanent, so their parklet seating should be...
