It’s a park and it’s a very nice park, a park with very good views. It’s great to see the moon rise but coupled with howling Coyotes makes for an amazing experience. You’ll hear them singing to each other if you happen to be at Buena Vista at first moon light, or if sirens are just right to trigger the coyotes.
This is on of the San Francisco park that actually seems to be managed very well. They have done a great job maintaining its natural beauty and keeping it pretty much litter free,…In spite of the encroaching city.
Odd fact… If there is a feeling of eerie, like there is someone there when there is not…yikes…you are not trippin’.
…the park may be haunted by the ghost of the hundreds of souls that were once buried Here. These people were buried with white marble headstones to mark their final Resting place. But final it was not. All of the remains were unearthed and moved (probably to Colma, although I don’t know for sure). The white marble headstones became the foundations for the gutters throughout the park. Look at the ditch as you climb and you’ll see for yourself. It isn’t really that cool to move buried people and use their headstones for the gutter. I would haunt and scare too if that had been my fate . Also i wander if they actually recovered all the remains or if there are some bones lingering without the white marble to identify their final resting spot. My guess is that there are probably several deceased left behind. The interest was clearly white marble over anything. One thing for sure is that I wouldn’t be digging holes in that...

Read moreWhenever I visit San Francisco, I end up visiting touristy areas. I have missed this park in my visits. This park is few blocks from Haight and Ashbury intersection. There is a nice sloped lawn right next to Haight street, where folks can sit and relax, also great place for picnic. You have to do quite a bit of steep climbing to reach the top of the hill in Buena Vista park, on the way we saw children's play structure. Park has so many tall trees, suddenly you feel like you are in wilderness, great place to escape from cities busy life. This is a dog friendly park as well, dogs need to be on leash. Once you reach top of the hill in the park, you can really enjoy spectacular views of San Francisco city, You can view SF skyline, waterfront near fisherman's wharf and also golden gate bridge. There is a bench at the top in between two, nice place to sit enjoy the views of the city. Come to think of it, walk in the park is a great exercise, with steep steps and trails to get to the top.
