The Broken Record — Restaurant in San Francisco

I've been to this place a few times now, and it has a really great vibe and a fun backyard patio where you can sit and eat your food. Also, some great BBQ options which can be hard to find in SF.

Last time I went, though, the kitchen seemed pretty slammed with only two or three guys working on the orders coming through. Not a problem, having also worked in food service, this happens and I wasn't concerned about the wait even though it took around an hour to get my food.

Unfortunately, the service took a big hit as well. When I ordered, the guy behind the counter just took my order, handed me my number and walked off, which I get because it was busy. But an hour later, when he brought my food out, he chose to yell at me for "hiding" my number behind my friend's on the table we were sitting at, and claimed he explicitly told me to make it visible. Again, he didn't say a word to me when taking my order.

None of my friends or I were upset about the wait for our food, but the server's bad attitude and choice to scold us made the night end on a real bummer. Again, I get it, food service can be super stressful - I even tried to thank the kitchen on the way out for their obvious hard work - but the attitude of the staff ruined the night and I can't say I'll be returning...

Bring Cash and order the right stuff. That's my best suggestion. So for starters, this place is a dive sports bar straight up (loud, obnoxious, pool, and sports). They have a massive selection of whiskey (and bourbon and rye) so lovers of these spirits will feel right at home. The bartender we had was super friendly and was explaining the drinks as he was making them. As far as the food, it seems there menu changes periodically (based on the food items I'm seeing in these other reviews) but the staples seem to remain the same. First, the infamous Mac N Cheese (crawfish for us): don't bother. It's not flavorful and was just pretty generic with hardly any crawfish. The burger: Awesome juicy, meaty, cooked to perfection but needed more salt and pepper on the meat. Brussel sprouts with onions and blue cheese: Bomb. Who'da thought that brussel sprouts mixed with blue cheese would be delicious. Fries: Just well cooked and seasoned standard fries. I liked them. Buffalo wings: They are meaty and substantial and the buffalo sauce goes great with their delicious house-made ranch.

What a disappointment!! Im starting to think that Diners Drivein and Dives is a complete farce!!! This place had NOTHING I have been looking forward to. No Tiger prawn sandwich, no duck confiet potato skins, no ox tail polenta. I'M JUST DONE!!! Since I drove forever in traffic to get here I decided to order something. Nothing looked appealing. I went with the fish and chips. After about 10 min a lady comes out to tell me that there was only one fillet thawed out and I had to wait for the rest to be unthawed. Really? I am removing this from my bookmarks and will just shake my head in disgust!

I have to, unfortunately, admit the fish and chips were good. When the lady brought my food I asked her about the items I wanted missing from the menu. She stated they change their menu and that was under a different kitchen staff. Well, they should have written down...
