This time, four of us ordered Set Menu B ($79.99) — it comes with 7 dishes in total, and the portions were huge! We were all stuffed and super satisfied by the end of the meal.
🐮 Stir-Fried Grilled Beef — A must-try! The beef was very tender and arrived sizzling hot. They add tons of cilantro — paradise for cilantro lovers, but if you’re not into it, maybe skip this one.
🥗 Mixed Cold Appetizer — Light, crisp, and refreshing. It really helps balance the richness of the roast duck dishes.
🍤 Golden Shrimp with Crispy Threads — The presentation was beautiful! Juicy shrimp wrapped in thin crispy layers. The mayo glaze on top was a bit sweet for me though — tasty but slightly heavy after a few bites.
🐟 Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet — Personally not a favorite. The fish slices were a bit too thick, giving more of a sweet-and-sour chicken vibe rather than delicate fish.
🍆 Braised Eggplant with Green Beans — So flavorful and garlicky! Both eggplant and beans were perfectly cooked, soaking up all the sauce. Served in a small clay pot — full of homestyle charm.
🍚 Yangzhou Fried Rice — Simple but reliable. Nothing too fancy, just a comforting classic done right.
🥣 Hot & Sour Soup — Loved it! Nicely tangy with a peppery kick. Thick texture, and surprisingly good when mixed with the fried rice.
🍹 Plum Juice — The best drink to cut through all the richness! Sweet-and-sour in balance — refreshing and satisfying.
🍲 Lamb Spine Hotpot — Delicious and comforting! The broth was rich and aromatic, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. It came bubbling hot — perfect for a cold day.
💁♀️ Service — The waitress was super friendly and attentive, and we found out she really loves dogs! That instantly made the whole experience feel warmer and more down-to-earth.
Overall, Beijing Yuan truly delivers that classic northern Chinese flavor with generous portions, homestyle warmth, and kind service. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving authentic roast duck or a hearty...

After a long day trip, I was so glad to discover a restaurant that served authentic Beijing cuisine. Although the service was average, the delicious dishes they served more than made up for it, satisfying my cravings completely.
The restaurant boasted a tasteful design with an authentic Beijing style. The proximity of the stacked disposable meal boxes and beer barrels to the dining area detracted from the restaurant's overall cleanliness and aesthetic appeal.
However, the dishes were so good!
Sliced Pancake Soaked in Whole Fish with black sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a traditional Beijing dish that is absolutely delectable! The fish is seasoned to perfection with a delightful mix of salty, fresh, and mildly spicy flavors. The pancake is then soaked in the sauce, infusing it with a mouth-watering taste that elevates the dish to a whole new level of deliciousness.
Shredded Pork with Sweet Soybean Paste Sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is another classic Beijing dish that never disappoints. The pork is cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, and paired beautifully with the black sauce, which perfectly complements its flavor.
Eggplant with Garlic Sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is an authentic Beijing dish, distinct from the Americanized Chinese versions found elsewhere. The eggplants are cooked to a soft texture and expertly seasoned with a flavorful garlic sauce, making it a must-try for anyone seeking an authentic Beijing culinary experience. Highly recommended!
Duck Bone soup with Napa Cabbage and Tofu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The soup itself (the liquid, or say the water part) is fresh and delicious. Although the meat on the duck bone is plentiful, it lacks flavor. Nevertheless, the well-cooked Napa cabbage and tofu more than compensate for this, adding a delightful texture and taste to the soup.
Sautéed Mixed vegetables ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read moreLately I’ve been hopping around new restaurants and cafes in LA, but this time I stumbled upon an old spot offering a super value set. As long-time LA locals, we went in with the mindset of “save where you can, spend where it counts” to see if it really lives up to the hype. Honestly, when it comes to value for money, restaurants that have been around for over ten years usually deliver—and this one definitely does!
We ordered the four-person value set plus the Peking Duck set. The amount of food felt like enough for ten people. The duck comes two ways and even includes a huge pot of duck soup. If you’re going for their Peking Duck, make sure to book it in advance. The portions were generous—lots of pancakes too! The flavor took me right back, and even though I’m not from Beijing, I really love their duck.
The four-person set included five dishes, one soup, one fried rice, and a pitcher of sour plum juice: • Stir-fried Beef with Cilantro & Garlic – big, tender chunks of beef with a fragrant kick from cilantro and garlic. • Assorted Cold Appetizer – refreshingly tangy and sweet, a surprising favorite on such a hot day. • Braised Eggplant with Green Beans – rich, savory sauce that paired perfectly with rice. • Golden Crispy Shrimp – large shrimp wrapped in crunchy threads with a hint of creamy flavor inside. • Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet – huge, tender pieces with a bright sweet-sour taste. • Yangzhou Fried Rice – the kid loved it; fragrant with egg, ham, shrimp, and peas. • Hot and Sour Soup – well-balanced, not overly peppery. I’m not usually a fan, but my husband downed several bowls.
At $20 per person, the value is unbeatable. They also offer a $13.50 rice bowl combo with salad and a drink—honestly the best budget-friendly meal deal I’ve come across in...
