I'm not a fan of ordering at a kiosk. I ordered a drink but it didn't show on the receipt. Too many pop-up windows suggesting other items. That is probably why my drink didn't go through to the cart. Then there was a pop-up window that said Fries: Plain or On Side. What does that even mean???
As I ordered, several employees that were behind the counter were giggling and telling jokes. I was annoyed and almost left. Feels like California Fish Grill is too lazy to have their employees help the customers when customers arrive to spend their hard earned money. This is not a good look!
Lastly, California Fish Grill is excluding the Boomers and older. Older folks 65 and above are not computer literate and don't want to fuss with a kiosk or have a phone with them to use to receive a text when their food is ready. I work with computers and had a hard time navigating the kiosk. My parents wouldn't even bother ordering on a kiosk. They would just go somewhere else!
I ordered the fish and chips and added the upgrade of street corn. The batter was good, nice and crispy. I don't really like the texture of swai, so the fish was okay. The fries were hot, crispy and slightly salted. They put the street corn was laid under the fish. Maybe they thought the hotness of the fish would warm up the corn, but it didn't. It was less than warm. Certainly not worth the $2.50 upcharge.
Perhaps this restaurant concept is geared towards a younger crowd, which is fine. But the Boomers and I will just go somewhere else that gives more personalized good...
Read moreGood healthy options with a pretty large selection of different white fish. I love that they carry 2 different types of sea bass (branzino and barramundi), rock fish, catfish, swai, tilapia. For the non white fish they offer salmon, ahi tuna, shrimp, and chicken. We went there after a family member had a stroke and wanted to have a healthier eat-out meal. We got the rock fish, branzino, barramundi, and Atlantic salmon. They were all grilled with seasoned olive oil. The rock fish was a bit tougher. Branzino was done perfectly, it is one of my favorite fish. The barramundi was also cooked well and the texture is softer than branzino. There are still the less healthy options like deep fried fish and chips.
You get to choose 2 sides for each plate. The brown rice is a bit wet but still fine (we're Asian so we're picky with our rice). The white rice is western style where each grain separates almost like pasta. Texture is great tho and it is lightly seasoned. The beans are a mix of different beans sauteed and seasoned well (savory). The brussel sprouts are charred and drizzled with some sweet balsamic vinegar.
You place the order at the counter (or digital touch screen) and you find your own seat. It's a casual place vibe. Large and clean toilets. I hope...
Read moreI recently ordered from here on Uber eats and was absolutely blown away by the food! Outstanding, I ordered the branzino and swai for entrees and they were divine. Both cooked to perfection, fresh, flaky, and beautifully soft on the inside. Seasoned to perfection, one I got with the garlic butter, and the other with olive oil, the subtle additions of sauce were simply delicious. I'm relatively new to the area and have almost given up on seafood around here but thanks to California Fish Grill I have been revitalized. For appetizers we got the coconut shrimp, and skewered butter shrimp over rice. The coconuts were thicc, nicely crisped and served with a bangin spicy sauce that was so good I put it in everything, and eventually licked the ramakin to savor every drop. The grilled shrimp was perfectly buttered and had a nice sear, enjoyed it in combination with the al dente rice. To sum up the entire experience, my wife wanted the tomatoes with feta as a side, and I typically don't enjoy tomatoes (usually removed from sandwiches, etc) but they looked so thicc and juicy I stole a couple from her to eat with my rice! Looking forward to eating from here again, and exploring the menu (I'm a stick in the mud who doesn't try...
