Tips: If you want to beat the crowd to avoid a minimum of two(2) hours of waiting (especially on weekends), sacrifice a friend to come beforehand and place your name on the list (offer to buy that friend a boba tea, please). Or, come after 9pm when the dinner rush is over. The parking lot can also be packed during weekends dinner hours. Try finding parking on the street or along de Anza Blvd.
Vibes: This restaurant screams colorful neo lights, strobe lights, happiness, loud music, lots of "clinking" with people drinking beers/flavored soju, and more. There was a live performer singing in Mandarin and English songs. You know the artist is good when he can sing Besame Mucho and followed by a Backstreet boys - "I want it that way", he was AWESOME!
They also offered drinking games - a spinner (in Chinese only) and a finger electric shocking device 😱. All these can be ordered via your ordering app. They also give you a plastic hand clippers to hype up the crowds when the performaner finishes his songs. 👏
Food: When the vibe is good and alcohol is flowing through your body, food just tastes good naturally! There are varieties of food to choose from and the skewers are super tasty, tho the flavor is pretty much the same spices just on different proteins or veggies. I recommend ordering dishes in addition to the skewers to change it up. But overall the food is solid. Average skewers cost $2.99 - $5.99
Service: We sacrificed a friend to get ourselves on the wait-list and we were in by 6pm. We were quickly seated and ordered our food via the QR code on the table. The server told us to place the food all at once, which I asked if we could add more if we wanted to (we ended up doing it three times). She said it is to avoid kitchen backup? But truthfully we felt they wanted us to order quickly, eat, and dash as they needed to turn the table quickly. We felt a bit pressured after they had asked us 3 times if we were done. Our friend abandoned his Soju because of it.
I finally checked off the box and tried this place. I would probably try it again if I was craving for some good skewer gizzard or squid legs. Btw if you are an adventurous eater, try the...
Read moreCame here for Thursday around 6:45pm and there was a half hour wait time. From the get-go, you can see that there are a lot of bright lights and a beautiful fridge display in the front of the restaurant. It's great for photos, although not that great of a space to wait around it. It got cramped very fast. On the bright side, you can take your time to check out which drinks you want.
A good word to describe going into the restaurant was chaotic. There's loud music, people singing, flashing lights everywhere, and overall just many effects that made it feel like part restaurant, park crazy karaoke bar. Be mindful if you have sensitivity to lights and loud sounds.
We had a party of seven so we had an automatic gratuity charge of 18%. On top of that, there was a singer's charge.
It was easy to order. You use a code and then order with your phone. The drinks came out fast, and then the skewers came out after. Since our party was big, we lost track of who had which skewers. It was cute that they put little clapper toys near your table for the singing. The design and layout of the table made things cramped. No one came by to take our used sticks and cups.
For the flavor of the skewers, I would say it's saltier than other locations in the Bay Area. I guess that's how they keep you wanting more drinks. I recommend ordering a side of rice or carbs to wash things down. The hits were the lamb and bean curd/tofu skin. For drinks, I wish they had more descriptions in the ordering portal besides just "fruit beer" or wine.
We were watching the singer all night. Don't get me wrong--she's great, and we were questioning if she was a real customer or if she was a paid employee because she was so good. She was emceeing the whole night. She contributed to our experience but I did not expect to have another fee added to our bill.
We paid $50 per person in the end. It's pricey, but you pay for the experience of being there. I'm not sure if I will go again or how often I would go. Maybe I'd go for date night or with a big group of friends. I noticed their "treasure box" of shots was popular. Overall I think it's worth trying just to go...
Read moreLet me just start out by saying, DONT COME HERE IF YOU OR SOMEONE IN YOUR PARTY HAS A PEANUT ALLERGY. I understand that many Asian restaurants cook with peanut oil or use the same cookingware to cook dishes that had nuts in it. However, nothing on the menu tells you that they use nuts in their recipes. There is not a single disclaimer. It wasn't until I asked a server to confirm about nuts was I notified that every single skewer item was cooked with nuts which made everything inedible for my partner. This is extremely dangerous and someone could have a severe reaction from this. Again, the menu did not say anything about a nut disclaimer (although almost everything has nuts according to the server). They do not verbally disclose this information. If I did not ask beforehand, we would have never known every dish has nuts in it until it was too late.
I love the idea of small dishes and late night snacks but the execution is mediocre. All the meat skwers were lukewarm and some tasted like they have been sitting out for a while. They have a extremely large menu but from all 8 items I ordered, they used the same sauce/seasoning (which is why everything contained nuts) which made all the dishes have the same taste.
I give this place two stars because it's a unique place and I loved the decor and the vibe was cool. However, the karaoke was way too loud.. as in the person's voice filled the entire restaurant. And I moving colorful spotlights are cool but they were installed in a way that it would blind you every 30seconds if you were seated at an unlucky table. BUT They have a great drink variety which I liked and because that was all my partner could enjoy. But overall, the lack of disclosure on nuts in their recipes is extremely...
