I wish others would do more full review ( because I am picky). The thing I love about Hokkaido is they have unlimited California Roll (they have best Califonia roll). They also have Fried Tempura Sushi ( I never have appetite to try) but its like Fried Shrimp (Crab too?) with Veggie, whole thing is fried. They also have Unagi & tuna top California roll. They also have Nigiri ( Salmon,Tuna, H (White Fish), Mackarel, Tamago,Shrimp). The Salmon can be small but they put little rice so just eat more. I am small eater so just eat 4 pieces at the most.
I love the Dim Sum here. The Shumai I dont know (look funny) but the Custard Bun/ChaSha Bun ( Pork) is real good. Most of time it is Soft. I have not tried the Dumplings but I hope someone else review it so I can try ( I am small eater). I wish you can get ToGo but you pay 10.99 per lb. And 13.99/ lb for seafood ( I think 18.99 for dinner Sashimi) so you might as well get the buffet.
So the sushi is best here. They have tons and tons of California Rolls. Fried Rolls Tempura, Cream Cheese roll, Avocado roll, Unagi California & some with Tuna on top.
They have salad but no Tomato? They do have ketchup but I cant find the salad dressing (recommend bring your own cause the white dressing taste off). They have other salads, Chickpea Kidney bean, Seaweed, Squid salad & Crab Salad.
They had one of the best Pork Ribs & Fried Squid but those are only Dinner items. They do have (lunch) regular Pork which sometimes is good. They have Teriyaki Chicken,Orange Chicken. I dont eat Sweet Chicken so I wish other people would rate this. The Chicken Wing sometimes good but sometimes dry? I wish they would try steam or bake Chicken Wings without the crispy crust. Baked Chicken Wings can be good even with just Salt, Pepper. The Veggies change from Cabbage to Green beans but they always have Broccoli.. Delicious Broccoli but I dont know about the Beef, sometimes hard to chew.
Crawfish is alot of work to eat it. But sometimes its delicious. Other times it is either overcooked or taste funny ( 50/50 Chance you get good ones but its alot of work to peel). You can just eat fried Shrimp or Shrimp Cocktail like shrimp but have to put work to peel Them. They also have Clams & I had a little bit. The fried Rice today looked really good...in the past the Fried Rice did not look good but today it look really good. I save my stomach for the Tempura.
The Fried Tempura ( Sweet Potato & Squash (Acorn Squash) is really really good. I might ask them if I can order it without eating here ( maybe 10.99/ lb). They also have Spring Rolls which I cannot eat too much, French Fries, Sesame Balls, Wings, & Fried Banana or Plantains? They also have Hot & Sour Soup. If it is not sour enough, there is a sauce station near the tables you can add Vinegar & hot sauce. They also have a really good Tofu& also have steam or grilled Salmon & another white fish. I am picky about fish so I only eat the skin. i think they have curry potato but I am small eater so never get to try. I am strange. I love Pigs Feet. They also have pigs feet but needs soy sauce. They have Soy Sauce on Table. They also have Fried Salmon which looks good but I never have appetite for too much food. I usually come here because I love the Soft Serve Vanilla, but I put it in a bowl with Banana. I like my Banana Raw or Green. The first time I came here, the Banana was green but lately Bananas are too ripe. So I no longer like the Soft Serve as much because I miss the Green Banana. They also have Cantelope,HoneyDew, Oranges & Mandarin & canned PIneapple & Jello. For the Soft Serve Ice Cream they have Rice Crispies, Fruit Loops, Sunflower Seed, Peanuts, Raisan. They also have Ice...
Read moreUsual run of the mill Chinese styled buffet (even though, it is named after the Japanese town of Hokkaido). The menu variation is smaller than many other places (I take it as a positive thing for this location). When too many dishes are prepared, all tend to be subpar. This location seems to be focused on fewer but better items. Their seafood is good. The sushi is good (I am setting the limit: comparison among "Chinese buffet sushis", not comparing this with individual sushi places). Their rolls are all (imitation) crab rolls and then you see something on top. There are decent sashimi and surprisingly good nigiri. (Again, among "Chinese Buffet Sushis"). They have clams, that seemed good. Finally, they have oyesters 🦪 ! It is refilled periodically so, if you want to try it, you need to catch it in the window when it is refilled (One variant only).
The interior is surprisingly clean, and well-lit. Many Chinese Buffet places are not as well maintained. The stuff count is good compared to the number of patrons. They seem to remove empty dishes quite frequently.
Overall, it is a good place if you want to have such thing once in 6 months. They seemed to try to promote this place to a decent place. Now a days, Chinese buffets are a dying breed. The food fuels nostalgia of good times from previous decades, and that...
Read moreThis place before, was a good place with fresh food. They closed due to the pandemic. And on Friday my family and I, to see the announcement that they were open again. I have 4 children...And we went there for dinner. Last Friday, I was not sure about the quality of the food at the stations, and we went in to order, the food was not fresh quality. the Chow mein..My kids said it taste Spoiled and most of the food was old. I was embarrassed to tell the Owner and we tried to eat something else from the stations. Well, we were already there and with the order for the table. All the food did not taste fresh but especially the Chow mein..It was with a spoiled taste. I never thought that in the early morning my children would be vomiting and have stomach aches. The food caused them to get sick..Now I also have the same symptoms of vomiting, stomach pain and Diarrhea. It makes me sad Because I did not make sure the food was of good qualit, as before that they had, before the pandemic. Pls make sure you don't eat at this place without...
