First, the service was poor. On top of that, they charge a 3% service fee for orders below $30, which is unreasonable. No merchant would typically be charged that much, and I have never heard of such a policy. I could understand a small fee for orders under $10, but $30 means customers are essentially forced to purchase at least two items, even if it’s their first visit. This does not create a welcoming experience for new customers.
Additionally, the product itself was underwhelming. From the packaging, it’s obvious that the items are smaller in size but sold at a higher price compared to similar bao I’ve bought at other stores (e.g., in Milpitas).
Finally, even when paying with Venmo, I was charged sales tax. This left me confused, as Venmo is usually treated like cash, and I’m not sure if those funds are even reported properly for tax purposes.
Lastly, they offered to heat Bao but they just microwaved the box. What is a more legit way to reheat the Bao to keep its original taste is to steam but they seem to forget about this.
Overall, I left very disappointed and cannot recommend this...
Read moreI am not Chinese but lived Beijing in '88-'89, while living there I would have Jingbing or Bao for breakfast (or take home to eat later). You'd think you can get the same bao anywhere in the Bay Area but no. Mostly you find a giant ball of dough with a small sausage filling inside or lame very poor dough to filling ratio of bao.
Danacious makes bao the old school way like late '80's bao in Beijing. The bao is almost like a dumpling but a little thicker with an amazing texture. The pork and onion is not a sausage but more like pie filling so you get the full flavor of the meat filling with every bite. It does not need sauce or soy, it's flavor and texture stands alone.
I've tried bao in the city, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, and Fremont but nothing comes close to this. No dumpling restaurant comes close to this bao.
The place is clean, the quality is high and consistent with every purchase. All the food prep is up front for all to see and typical of China the service is normal, I mean you're just buying food over the counter. They will heat it up if you want otherwise order, buy,...
Read moreI can't praise Danacious Dumpling enough! This place has quickly become my go-to spot for an amazing Bao Zi experience. My absolute favorites are the Pork and Green Onion Bao and the Minced Pork with Tofu Bao – they are beyond delicious!
The taste is amazing, and what sets them apart is the incredibly juicy filling. I've tried Bao at various places, but Danacious Dumpling truly excels in flavor and quality.
My tip for the best experience: visit on a weekend morning around 9 or 10 am when the Bao Zi just came out of the oven, fresh and warm. It's an unbeatable treat!
Parking is a breeze here, which is a huge plus. And the prices are more than reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant. Danacious Dumpling has earned its five stars...
