I have recently moved here from Toronto which you find so many great bakeries that make fresh Barbari and Sangak and was looking for Persian bread in San--Jose. A friend told me to check this bakery. Boy, was I disappointed. Aside from prices that are twice as expensive, their Sangak bread is so small and thin, you could confuse it with lavash, and funny thing, despite being tiny and thin, while the top looks cooked, the bottom was raw. I have never seen sangak bread like this. The bread they call Barbari, it is not barbari. It is flat bread but not Barabari. Again small and expensive. Come on dude, put some dough into these breads, you don't go bankrupt, but more people come and buy bread from you. Oh, boy, do I miss Barbari and Mashadi bread from Super Pars, Sangak from Hyperfresh or Torange supermarkets in Toronto. If anyone planning to visit Toronto, please don't forget to check Super Pars for their Mashadi bread. Check the pic:

I had a disappointing experience with this bakery. I bought some prepackaged pastries on Saturday to bring to an event the next day. When I opened them on Sunday, I found that they had fungus on them. Be cautious when purchasing prepackaged items here, as there are no packaging or expiration dates provided. I called the bakery immediately after getting home and asked for a refund. While they couldn't process the refund over the phone, they did say I could come in anytime, even up to a year later, to get my money back. Although the other two items I purchased were fine, the incident with the spoiled pastries was enough to make me decide not to return. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this bakery based on my experience.

This bakery offers fresh Sangak and Barbary bread seven days a week, which is a great convenience. However, it’s always a good idea to check the bread before paying, as sometimes it can be undercooked or slightly burnt in certain areas. They also sell a variety of pastries, including Baklava and traditional Iranian cookies. While the quality is decent, the prices are a bit on the higher side compared to other places. The staff, particularly Andria and Sa’eed, are always polite and friendly, which adds to the overall pleasant experience. Just be mindful of the bread quality when you visit!

The bread is exactly what you'd expect Sangak to look and taste like. I'd give it a 5.

The service however is horrible. It is a bajillion degrees in there due to no AC to speak of and the huge oven running and it being San Jose.

So I usually order and walk out, double check to make sure they know it's my order, and the moment you step out they give your bread to the next person. You can go back in and they lie to you saying, "oh it's cooking, it will be right out" but that's when they start your batch.

Walk out again to catch a breath of relief, even if it is 90 degrees outside, and your order is given to someone else again, and new lies about how yours will be out any second as they double-check with you, "How many did you want again? And what kind?" And you watch them start that many again...

I'm pretty much addicted to the Sangak bread. The reason for just 34 stars is that I prefer the "Special Sangak" which requires being lucky that they have it, or calling in an order. Unfortunately their phone system (cell phone?) is pretty bad and sometimes times they can't hear you. Nice place, nice people, I just wish they'd get a better phone. I note some reviews calling them out for bad service or being rude - something I've never encountered or seen. Sometimes there is a single worker slaving over the oven and trying to help customers at the same time. Have some patience folks. I say "Hi!" and smile, and that's what comes back.

UI upgraded from 4 to 5 stars because since my initial review they have increased production so the Special is almost...
