Ordered take-out for the first time at Pho Luc Lac and decided on the following: · Garlic Butter Wings · Rib Eye over Fried Rice · Crispy Chow Fun with Beef
Ordering was a breeze and our food was ready for pick up as soon as we arrived. The location was easy to spot as well as ample amounts of parking. Service was welcoming and immediate. The décor of hanging leaf hats gave an authentic Vietnamese atmosphere and conveyed the feeling of home cooked food. I look forward to dining in when things are back to “normal.”
Our initial impression of the food was nothing short of delicious. Everything was perfectly seasoned and I loved their unique spin on the classical Viet dishes I’m accustomed to.
Garlic Butter Wings Very reminiscent of the tried and true ‘salt and pepper’ wings but with a buttery garlic spin. Five wings are included in the appetizer and are so easy to devour. I usually prefer my wings on the crispier side and topped with some green onions (just a preference). I’m sure they can accommodate my taste on the next order! Tip: order a side of rice and this is an entree in itself.
Rib Eye over Fried Rice Ordered the rib eye medium rare and that’s exactly how it came: juicy and tender. The included chimichurri sauce was also amazing! It added a slight tang and spice that meshed really well with the rib eye. Surprisingly, we both LOVED the fried rice. It was simple but flavorful. And yet not salty nor overpowering. Again, I wouldn’t hate if they added more green onions! :D
Crispy Chow Fun with Beef This dish is the standout of the night. The crispiness of the chow fun, topped with the beef, veggies and gravy made for a really delightful combo and flavor profile. If you can’t tell by now, I highly recommend this dish. It's the first time I've tried something like this at a Vietnamese restaurant! I would prefer more veggies in the sauce but we are absolutely ordering this again and it won’t be the last.
Overall, Pho Luc Lac offered a great and satisfying experience. We’ll definitely be dropping by the next time we are in the San Jose area and are looking forward to trying their other dishes. I highly recommended checking out...
Read moreFirst time here & we loved it. Location is easy to access and interior is clean & spacious. Staff are nice and attentive. Everything we ordered came out quickly and was cooked to perfection. Perfect portions & pricing. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue, Pho Dac Biet, Butter garlic wings, fried spring rolls, & Thai tea, green Thai tea, & passion fruit lemonade.
The Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef soup) was very delicious. Clean broth with a little kick of spice. This is probably my favorite Bun Bo Hue. It is fully loaded with beef slices, tendon, slices of minced pork sausage, blood cake, & all. I ordered the regular & it was a very good size portion for me. My friend ordered the pho dac biet which is the pho combo special. She completely finished it and said it was really good. The garlic butter wings were also really good. Crispy & juicy! It tasted so good with a little lemon squeezed on top. We also got to try the fried spring rolls. Also very crispy! You can ask for a side of lettuce/veggies to make a sort of spring roll veggie wrap & dip into fish sauce. Yum! Drinks: we ordered Thai Tea, green Thai tea, & passion fruit lemonade. Other pho restaurants dont sell the best milk tea drinks but this restaurant got it right! The Thai tea was so good. Deep Thai tea flavor & creamy, a crowd favorite. It was our first time ever hearing of green Thai tea & it was also good. It has a floral almost green tea/matcha like flavor. Lighter than the regular Thai milk tea for those wanting something lighter. The passion fruit lemonade was also soooo good. Not too sour or sweet. It was perfect in my opinion & perfectly refreshing. All in all, not only does this restaurant sell great & well cooked food, they have some creative dishes not available at other restaurants of this type. I would definitely come back to try out more of their menu. We had a good experience & I would bring my friends &...
Read moreZero stars if I could. My child is allergic to eggs and I ordered fried rice and few other items without meat and eggs. The waiter was in a hurry and she left with confirming anything. I began eating and after a few spoons discovered eggs in the rice. I called politely and explained that I ordered without the eggs, the waiter, a man in his 20s came back and said their rice always comes with eggs. To that I replied that is not the case and we have ordered the rice without eggs, he went to the kitchen and came back to say that's the order and nothing could be done. I called for the waiter who took my order and he said she's busy(for what seemed like an empty restaurant) and can't come. I explained again that my child is allergic and I cannot give her the rice. He said they could take a new order and I would have to pay for the rice with eggs. I argued that I shouldn't have to pay for something I did not order. The man first said he would void it and then a minute later came back to say he wouldn't because I had started eating it. The back and forths was very frustrating. A lady came from inside and said it's ok and they would void it and he started arguing very loudly with her in front of us. The man was extremely rude, came charging at me with a 'what do you mean' when I said he said something different every time he came back. The lady didn't speak much but her tone was condescending. They did replace the rice but that completely ruined our mood. We packed our food, paid and left in a few minutes.
NEVER stepping into this restaurant again. We came in hoping for a peaceful evening but left insulted and angry. They lost a loyal customer. If you care more for respect, courtesy and experience than food itself, you are better off...
