Shima Sushi — Restaurant in San Jose

Great sushi spot tucked in the large shopping center on Camden and Union. There's lots of parking and a decent amount of seating for a small restaurant. The staff were all very nice and attentive. I dined in on a Friday night and the ambiance was busy and lively. I noticed there was a lot of regulars dining in, always a good sign :-).

For a sushi restaurant, I was impressed with their vegetarian options! They have vegetarian udon and 5 vegetarian rolls. Along with the traditional apps.

-Edamame: salty and savory -Miso soup: delicious and actually hot! Perfect for a cold night -Seaweed salad: a good portion and nicely seasoned -Vege roll: the only difference between this roll and the caterpillar roll is the mango and portion size. The vege roll was perfect for me portion wise. The pickled veggies were delicious!

I often have the pleasure of dining at Shima, the hidden gem of our Cambrian, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment you walk in, the traditional welcoming you would find in Asia and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home.

The sushi here is nothing short of spectacular. Every roll is crafted with the freshest ingredients and an impressive attention to detail. My personal favorite is the Aaron Roll, which may or may not be named after a collegue of mine. The sashimi is also top-notch, melting in your mouth with every piece.

The staff at Shima are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure you have a great dining experience. They'll help guide you through the menu and ensure you leave with a smile.
