It's midnight. Your friends and you have stayed in too long or the movie went late or you just got into town and you need your fill of Chinese. One place will have your back - that's Top Cafe. It doesn't look like much, and it isn't classy or dotingly good service. But for a good chow fun or a fast, filling Jook, it's always solid. If you can't tell, they're a very Cantonese Chinese, and even have staples of Hong Kong English cuisine like spaghetti, Horlick, and macaroni if I recall - but I just go for the Chinese dishes which are always fine as advertised and very affordable. Top Cafe has its place - it's not going to impress the neighbors and it may not even be your go to for Chinese in the area, but when the hour is late and you need good food, it will be here (because if you haven't caught on, they close at 3 am). The place never seems empty but parking is ample and there's never a wait. It's not easy to find a place that's reliably good and there in a pinch when you need it. And if that's the situation you find yourself in, these folks will be on top of it.

Came here on a Tuesday night and got seated immediately - it's not super busy at around 5 pm to 6 pm! Good: I really like the food quality here - it's different than a lot of the places I've been to and it's pretty solid food. I like the spaghetti bolognese here even though it feels like a super out of place thing at this kind of HK restaurant - but it comes in this hot stone bowl and feels super fresh and the sauce is beautiful - just enough flavor and slightly sweet too. The Russian borsch soup is great too and I felt like it tasted more like minestrone soup which I also like and it is very flavorful. Bad: The service here isn't great - the waiters have forgotten our orders and we had to bug them for it. They are nice though. The gyoza and fried tofu here are pretty bland so I'd skip those. Overall I like the food here and would come again! It's pretty cheap too so it's really worth for the amount and the portion sizes.

I've passed by this place many times but never tried it, decided to finally give it a try. The restaurant is about half full when I came in, I seated myself in a booth. Took a while to get the menu and order, there were 2 servers but 1 was also making drinks so it was difficult to get their attention. I was hoping to get lemon coke as their complimentary drink, since both lemon tea and coke were in the free selection, however, the waitress vetoed it and I got the red bean drink instead. The red bean drink came relatively quickly, though it's nothing to write home about. It tasted quite watered down, but it's free so can't complain. Took a while for my baked fish dish to come, but that's probably to be expected for a baked dish. The complimentary soup never showed up, and I didn't want to deal with flagging down the waitress so just let it go. The fish dish itself was pretty good, and reminds me of all these HK cafes I've visited in the past. Not sure if I'll come again. Service was very slow and it gave me time to look at all the flies flying around the tables. This may be a good choice if you are looking for food at odd hours, but I wouldn't make a trip to come as there are many other choices around.

Come here for the occasional late night craving. Sometimes I'm just sitting in bed thinking about their baked rice. It's not anything insanely good tasting but it has a very simple but comforting taste and feel. The restaurant is also bustling on a Friday night it didn't even feel like it was 2am. Besides their baked pork chop over rice I also really like their fried calamari, the addition of stir fry onion and pepper really adds to the flavor. Regarding service, I feel like it's always fine? Yeah they were busy but they got everything to me and I basically didn't say anything just pointed to the menu and nodded for replies since it was so loud inside. They also offered to move me to a bigger table after a party left which was nice. Overall if you're a stickler for super attentive hovering service then you might be disappointed, but I don't mind it.

Top Cafe is a late-night haven for Hong Kong food enthusiasts like me. The Beef Chow Fun was a standout – tender beef, fresh veggies, and an explosion of flavors in every bite. The cozy ambiance made me feel right at home, and the attentive staff added to the welcoming vibe. While more menu variety would be great, Top Cafe's hours and delicious dishes will definitely have me coming back. Perfect for satisfying those late-night cravings!

We frequent this Hong Kong style cafe/diner throughout the years. It’s one of the go to restaurants when we get hungry at odd hours and when nothing else in particular comes to mind. There’s so many delicious items on the menu, you’ll almost always find something you like. You can’t go wrong.
