Carl's Jr. — Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano

Stopped in before making an afternoon run over Ortega Highway to Temecula. My disappointment started with reading the poster in the window announcing Carl's Jr would be open Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. There was a time when Carl's was closed these holidays along with Easter so the employees could spend time with family.

I headed for the restroom first (#becauseortegahwy) and was surprised at how rundown it was. I gotta say it WAS clean just horribly rundown. The dining room seemed pretty worn as well.

Time to grab a soda for the drive. I placed my order with Papi Chulo (that is exactly what his name tag read ... aka Daddy Pimp). This guy was beyond annoying, so preoccupied with acting cool. He was also too amazing or bored to make eye contact while I placed my order. He was looking in a daze out the window or down at the counter. Basically looking anywhere except at the guest in front of him. Clearly I was interupting his coolness by ordering a coke ... What was I thinking?

I realize a lot of what I have shared here may seem petty and overly critical. Thing is I remember when Carl's Jr raised the bar in terms of quality food and great service in the fast food world. I have been waiting to eat these amazing hamburgers for a year, I am a foreigner and it felt horrible to hear Mrs. Valeria, who billed us, say that only one goes to give work, it felt so ugly that 2 customers at the end of the line left, I was left eating my order in the place, with a pain in my chest and wanting to cry, they are delicious burgers, but when they serve you reluctantly, even the food is bad for you... I hope the owner or manager can see This, and give the girl some training, or if she is bored with working, give the space to someone else who even wants to. I thank Octavio who served me with a big smile and enthusiasm, when he brought my order to my table, thanks to that I stayed in the place... Thank you Octavio!! Delicious burgers!! Mr. owner or manager, make Carl' JR happy again. I had another concept... The lady was not even identified, I know her name from the bill, I hope you take note... Date: 2/26/2024 Time of day - Afternoon Order - Double Sourdough Star Cheeseburger Combo Menu price - $13.99 Receipt price - $13.99 Tax - $1.08 Paid $15.07 Good service from the cashier Wait time - less than 3 minutes The burgers were made to order and it was absolutely delicious. 2 beef patties with cheese on sourdough buns. To include lettuce, tomato and bacon. It also comes with grilled onions but I passed. Good presentation. It was well wrapped. French fries were fresh. Hot and nicely salted. Ketchup packets are easy available next to the sugar packets and coffee lids. Dining room was nice and quiet. Restaurant was clean. Restrooms were clean. Parking lot clean. Plenty of parking.

Across from an In-N-Out and next to a Target shopping center with a Chick-Fil-A. There’s a Del Taco and a McDonald’s on the other side. Next to the 5 freeway. Will definitely come...
