Ceviche By Totti — Restaurant in San Juan

Don’t know if anybody is going to read this. But here goes. The problem for me with this place it’s not the food. It has good taste, and always has been my favorite place for ceviche.

My problem is the portions. I used to buy a while ago and the portions were bigger and from my understanding, the right for the price. As time goes by portions are getting little. There used to be 3 or 4 “tostones”. Now there is only 2. They used to serve in smaller plates with more food. Now is bigger plates with less food. As if they’re trying to create the illusion they are giving you more. All for the same price.

I went there today (september 26 2020) and the tostones needed more cooking time. Just because they look done in the outside, does not mean they are good on the inside. Portion of ceviche was as little as it could possible be. The same history with the fried fish.

Probably because everyone gives good reviews, the owner its going to say something like “well if he wants more...let him do it himself” the problem with that is there is a high chance im not the only one thinking like this. And people are going to stop buying at the Ceviche’s place.

If you’re going to give less portions dont charge the same. Do the right thing and charge less. Charging the same for less and with quality issues visible also, seems like a greedy business that depends in the good image and service it used to give and pretends that everyone keeps going there under the illusion.

Peruvian food on San Juan. Great for a few beers and hangout. The fish nuggets (chicharrones de pescado) were amazing. The empanada was good and the ceviche average. I assume that the ceviche thing was that day because someone told me that it is very good. The place is very small, just a few tables inside and one outdoors. The menu is pretty simple, just ceviche (the original) and fried sides. I recommend the combo, which include ceviche and the fish nuggets, its a big portion. I give 5 to the food, love it, loyalty customer for years. Give 4 to the location, and 1 to the parking, almost none and surroundings are full of garbage. Went today, August 28/2022, planning to eat in or outside, and surprise, a dog was the host welcoming customers. Having dogs around and allowing them to the business premisses is a NO NO for a place to eat. Not everyone likes dogs. Not everybody can enjoy their food with a dog beside or in between their legs waiting for some food to fall from the table.
