Atrévete Bar & Café — Restaurant in San Juan

This is an excellent find in Hato Rey. The only bar/ music space/ gallery in the metropolitan area of San Juan that caters to lesbians (the boys are of course welcome). The vibe is chill and when they have live music the place rocks.

If you have any musical requests, the owner/dj will gladly play whatever you want. They have an excellent selection - salsa, merengue, romantic ballads, 80s, 90s, etc.

And the food that they serve is amazing. Try anything, you won't regret it. My favorite are the fish croquettes. They're superb. All of the food is prepared fresh. Nothing reheated. The service is excellent and friendly.

If you want a place that is not a tourist trap, and more of a neighborhood bar, come to this place.

Best way to come is with an Uber as the parking situation is ... not the best. That's the only drawback,...

After taking an Uber to the wrong address two times (after copying and pasting STRAIGHT from Google ) and finally taking a long walk in heels (stepping in mud being the highlight of that) I arrived to the bar at about 9PM on Thursday night to find it closed. The bar next door was in full swing.

Disappointing. I went on a Thursday night. The reviews that I read said it was a happening spot for lesbians and that it was Karaoke night. The place was absolutely dead. My partner and I were the only ones there. It took almost an hour to bring out our food, a quesadilla. Upon leaving, the DJ said, "Come back tomorrow (Friday) it will be better."
