Buen Vecino Café — Restaurant in San Juan

I recently visited Buen Vecino, and unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. While the atmosphere was okay, both the food and service were highly disappointing.

I ordered the waffles, expecting something freshly made, but they seemed to be the packaged kind that you can buy at a store—not freshly prepared or homemade. There was no flavor or texture that stood out. For a place that prides itself on local flavors, I expected something much better than store-bought waffles.

What made matters worse was the poor service. The server left for a break without notifying me, and when he returned, he never came back to check on our table. The cashier was equally unhelpful—when I approached her with a concern, she ignored me completely. It felt like the staff didn’t care about customer service at all.

Between the lackluster food and the terrible service, Buen Vecino was a major letdown. I wouldn’t recommend it, as there are many other places nearby that offer much better...

I personally wont comeback but you should try it. Staff are nice though after taking your order they don't come by to check on you or your order. They also don't seem to have a lot of variety and when I asked for something they said “we don’t have them now” or another reason and they seemed to be typing the “egg whites only” order request as they didn’t have that option on their prefixed menu. My sandwich came looking like it was made by a toddler with a grease stained plate (which included for some reason a red stain) and looking all discombobulated, sweaty looking ham, and the eggwhites well they where 2 quarters in size. I did not eat it but happily paid for it as it didnt look appetizing and the stained plate was a huge turn off for me. They offered to give me a “free carrot cake or dessert” I didn't want it as I felt a bit uncomfortable with the service and the nasty plate appearance. My companions liked their lsandwich and acerola...

Started off as a nice experience me and husband got seated fairly quickly… We ordered our food mine was the wrong order to start off with and the food was cold.. Sent it back got the right order the only thing they did was switch it out to the right sandwich but that was barely hot.. More like lukewarm my husband food was lukewarm also.. Very disappointing because we were actually recommended this place it and it’s fairly close to the Airbnb we were staying at.. The server sat us took our orders and said she would be taking care of us and never saw her again after placing the order.. A guy brought out our food and then other guy came over and checked on us and I told him the food was cold.. I would have sent it back but didn’t want to wait another 30 mins to eat and my husband was half way done.. Definitely won’t be...
