Mariscos La Costa - San Juan — Restaurant in San Juan

For someone that dislikes seafood this restaurant was not that bad. The only reason why I went to this restaurant is because my dad wanted to eat at this place. I decided not to be a PRE Madonna and eat at this particular restaurant for my dad's sake. I love their chips and I fell in love with their refried beans. I am not someone that likes eating refried beans especially at a restaurant. But the refried beans seem to have been one of the best refried beans I have eaten in a restaurant in a long time. I did not buy any seafood at all but I did order a grilled chicken with veggies and rice and it was extremely good. I was not disappointed. Even though you can feed 3 people with the chicken plate i ordered. I did tell my dad to give me a little piece of the fried fish that he was eating and even tho I have had better in other places in my younger days they were ok. It could have been better if they used less thicker breading on their fish. Their lemonade is really fresh and delicious and their Chipotle sauce...

First they say that the 12 dollar red snapper is now $30. So I tried to change my order only to be told that since its already in I couldn't change it. Then I told her I want to cancel fish so they did do that. Then my son is served shrimp and not fish as ordered. I told her I ordered fish and waitress starts arguing with me. She says she can't take the plate back because my son already touched it. He hadn't taken a bite he just touched the shrimp thinking it was a piece of fish. Like a fish strip. I was thinking what if he hadn't touched it would you really serve it to someone else. Ewww! Anyway my husband says just bring us some fish. She said are you sure since it's a $1 more. I was so irritated with her service. My shrimp cocktail was off and tasted like it has bbq sauce in it. My husband ordered ponchos(fajita on tortilla chips) that was the worst plate I had ever seen. No cheese, not even a 1/3 of a cup of fajita. And for $12 . Trust me when I say what we spend was so not worth it. Over all extremely...

I know being here on new Year's Day could be difficult but the service was absolutely horrible. Reasoning for 3 stars is mainly because the food was absolutely delicious. Problem was, it was 2 of us and one of us was half way done with their food before I received mine. Things like screaming children are inevitable, but service can be managed correctly. I asked for limes like 5 times until I finally received some. Ordered flour tortillas and got corn instead. Didn't get my soft drinks until more than half way through the visit.. (we did have micheladas to start off, so that wasn't such a big deal) me having worked in the service industry almost my whole adult life, I know that good management is where it all starts.. the server helping us this visit was clearly overwhelmed and needed some back up. If there was more help from the person in charge, or the people I saw just standing around I'm sure this visit would have received 5 stars. Team work makes the dream work!!
