I’ve actually went there several times with my family before and fusion delight is one of the good tasting restaurants my whole family agrees to. HOWEVER, this last time I went on Saturday made me feel very very very disappointed in fusion delight. It is not because of the food or price, but because of public health safety! As we all know, a new disease from Wuhan was breaking out and California already had two confirmed cases. The last weekend was Chinese Lunar New Year and a lot of Chinese families chose to eat outside instead of cooking at home. First of all, we don’t know how many Chinese people had been to this restaurant and whether they were carrying the new disease. On Saturday night, the servers gave us a stack of empty bowls for us to use during dining. When we were distributing the bowls to every family member, my mom found out that one of them is dirty and she refused to use the bowl and would prefer to use plate instead. Later, same comments broke out from every single one of my family member and I must say, this was a big family dinner with almost 30 people only including all the kids. Then, I looked at my bowl and I found out that there is a layer of oil at the bottom of the bowl and some food residues that we could clearly see. To everyone who have patiently read my comments, don’t you agree that this is really disgusting? I even held the bowl closer to my face and I could smell the food whoever ate using this bowl! I was trying to tell this to the manager, but my family stopped me because it was new year! As of today, as I know so far, more than half of my family got sick including elderly and infants. All of us have similar symptoms such as fever, sore throat, coughing, and sneezing. Imagine, if the last person who used this bowl is someone who just came back from China may or may not that carries the disease, then all of my family members who got sick are at a high risk of being transmitted. Also, because of this horrible finding, I highly doubt that the plates and maybe other utensils are unsanitized. I wanted to report this to the Alameda County anonymously so they can inspect this restaurant again, but they require every individual to call them and provide all information including symptoms. I don’t want to expose all my family members so I chose to be the one to tell the truth to everyone. I didn’t fake this and IT IS REAL!!!!! Because of the disease, everyone is so careful and some Chinese even chose to stay home and celebrate at home. I just hope, and pray, that my family including myself will be fine and this is just simply flu. If the owner or any management personnel sees this, I beg you all, please make sure that all your utensils are sanitized before serving to customers, this could be really...
Read moreFirst off, 4 stars for the food. Minus 1 star because we found a piece of string in our vermicelli.
Positives: Squab stir fry was delicious. Nobody carries this dish anymore since it's such a chore to take all the meat out off the bones. The vermicelli with crab roe was also delicious, despite the fact we found a piece of string in our dish. Overall everything that we ordered during our 2 visits was good to great. Decor is nice.
Negatives: Service was enough to drag my initial 4 star rating to a 1. I usually temper my expectations for service when dining at Chinese restaurants, but Jesus Christ this was bad. This was prettay, prettttay bad.
Don't expect an extra napkin besides the SINGLE one you start with, unless you ask.
Don't expect them to change your plates PILED HIGH with bones and shells, unless you ask.
Basically don't expect anything besides the dishes you order and tea, unless you ask.
However, there is one thing you absolutely DO NOT need to ask for, and that is the check. O man they sure have no issues sending the bill over, well before we're finished with our meal. Not even an offer of red bean soup or maybe some oranges, but instead: nada. Just pay and get out.
We came during a night where 75% of the tables were used for a banquet. We got there around 9ish so most of the banquet guests have already gone. They randomly decided it would be the perfect time for a karaoke session. They preceded to turn on these stage lights for no reason. Imagine an entire row of 10-12 purple lights each with brightness of your car's fog lights. Just why. Next they cranked the mic volumes to 11, and had the worst singers rip through cantopop and mandopop classics for our entire meal. The worst part was the volume was so loud it drowned out all conversations: you literally could not hear a person even if they were screaming right beside you. It was the type of loud that your ears would be ringing. RINGING. How on earth did anyone in management or the staff or ownership think this would be ok?
TLDR: We won't be coming back despite the good to great food. When Koi Palace has better service than you that is really...
Read moreWe waited almost an hour to be seated, which wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't for the frustrating and poorly managed situation. We noticed that parties with large tables were seated before us, even though we arrived earlier and nobody had reservations. When we confronted the staff about it, the woman claimed she wasn’t purposely skipping us and mentioned there were only tables for 20 available. However, we had previously seen several 8-person tables sitting empty and being given to other customers. It made no sense.
The food was mediocre at best, not terrible, but nothing to write home about. The real issue, though, was the awful service. The only time we saw any staff was when they delivered our food or handed us the check/receipt. If we needed something, like chili or soy sauce, we had to ask the server, who then directed us to the staff dressed in black. But they never came, so the person who brought our food had to go get it for us instead. Keep in mind their ordering is done on an iPad so you don’t have much interaction with the staff.
We didn’t leave a tip because of the terrible service, and that’s when a bald man, who I assume was the manager, chased us outside and aggressively demanded a tip. Not only was he just demanding a tip, he had the audacity to say we were 衰 and tried to attack our character. We explained that we didn’t leave one due to the poor service and the fact that we were made to wait while others were seated ahead of us. He immediately denied our claim, insisting we were lying about seeing tables being given to other groups. When we told him we literally watched it happen, he then tried to justify it by saying those people were regulars and we were like so what? He then says that means they are “VIPs.” Are they VIPs just because they’re frequent customers? 😂
If you expect a tip, at least provide decent service. This experience was a complete letdown, and it’s safe to say we won’t...
